This raises an interesting question? Do you think it would reduce trolls and spammers if the board were set up so that anyone could read through the site, but if you wanted to join you would need to register with an e-mail?

I don't remember exactly what the requirements were when decided to join. I think it was just register a nick and go.

being able to read a site is essential to know whether you'll like it or not.. at least for people who WANT to join an interesting forum. if you couldn't see, you wouldn't know whether it's good or not and you'd skip off to the next one.

    hope for america...

You have always had to register an email. The question is should you have to verify that it is a real email (which takes one more step, and lets me ban problematic emails from joining again).

I do not think I will keep the email verification on though; I would rather not deter people from registering.

    So it goes

Oh that. Just a couple of people who wouldn't go away. No biggie, right? :)

Actually if they're ignored long enough, they'll go away. It's very simple.
You mean like you ignored that Bear character a while back?

Sean, it's a tough job trying to moderate a forum like this. I applaud your and the other moderator's efforts in trying to keep this site a cut above the rest.

I would think it would be acceptable to have a verification email to be replied to upon signing up with Volconvo. Anyone who is legitimate would have no qualms about clicking the reply link to continue on with signing up.

I don't ignore anyone 'cos no one ever annoys me. :)

What I meant to say was if someone annoys you, just ignore him/her and he/she will leave you alone.

    I hate moderators. Always have.

I agree. I lost track of things I've signed up for that send you an email and all you do is hit "reply" and send it back.
It's not like you're asked for a credit card number or anything!

The moderators are your friends. Come on Scribbs, give in. You know you love them deep down.

Right, it's that easy and not too personal. Of course, the reply email not only confirms the email address is valid, it also makes it possible to get the person's IP address and other pertinent info.

So do I, but I think my core team is the best I could possibly have. They give you guys tons of room to move in my opinion.

    So it goes

I would have thought you of all people would have gotten the joke. I retract the comment.
