Philosophy isn't a similar subject to religion. Why juxtapose them?
Philosophy is applied against all topics.

Philosophy is applied against all topics.

They aren't juxtaposed as we are not comparing them. They are two aspects of human inquiry combined into a single forum. The forum owner has chosen to organize the forums this way to make it easier for members to find debates on a certain topic.

The principal value of debate lies in the development of logical thought processes, and the ability to articulate your positions publicly.

The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it.

There is a lot of overlapping between religion and philosophy. I once took a philosophy course in college and the instructor told us several times that the three main questions of philosophy were the existence of God, freedom of the will, and the immortality of the soul. All three of these subjects are also the topics of much religious debate.

And then in the Twentieth century all those old topics took a back seat to the philosphy of language. Had two professors show for the first day of class in '74. "Why two?" we asked. As it turned out neither trusted the other to teach the subject right. Gotta' love them philosophy prof's.

Despite the fact that in the universities the foundations of logic and science are taught in Philosophy departments, the site organisers think that philosophy belongs with religion. Does anyone else? Are we/they saying that philosophy is about preferences - beliefs? That's an insult to academic philosophers.
Why as a philosopher, am I sharing this topic with talks about jesus?

There is, as you know, a profound difference between philosophy and religion. The former entails thinking, criticism, and creation; the latter dogma, unquestioning, and faith. Indeed, the two could be considered polar opposites.
So, "why as a philosopher, [are you] sharing this topic with talks about jesus?" because as a philosopher you don't sweat the little things.

Have you ever set foot in a philosophy department? You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy, except possibly in a business school.
The more you complain, the less I care about your problems.

Yes, of course, philosophy and religion work together. They symbiotically keep the planets in their orbits and minds within the body.
An insult to academic philosophers? All the better reason to leave things as they are.
Why share the heading topic with talks of Jesus? A very good question. Likely, but just guessing, complaints about it stem from a lack of discipline or the inability to distinguish the relationship of the thread's title to its content. After learning how to do philosophy, the ability to detach from the need to push for a dissociation of the two topics might be achieved. Some find it easy and think nothing of it. Others go thru a type of weaning or potty training type of experience before transcendent reality descends with the commensurate acceptance of others' independence and respect for their owning and controlling what is theirs. With a little luck this might finally be accepted as a personal reality and thence forward the recognition of another's ownership and dominion over his property is freely respected as the way to maturity.
