    Suggestion about the Adult Forum

I've noticed that if I set my age to below eighteen, not only am I unable to access the adult forum, I also have no way of knowing it exists. Since a great deal of people don't bother filling out all the details in their profile, this means they are missing out on a lot of the debate.

Would it be possible to somehow either prompt people to fill out the date of birth field in their profile or to make the link to the adult section (though obviously not the section itself) viewable regardless of age?

I think the point is to make sure it's not apparent to the under-18's, so they can't just change their age and post regardless of birthdate.

Why not just make the age section a required field?

Well, i don't think it works since people talk about the adult threads in the chatroom and such. Especially now with a thread about it, i think many will realize their is one hidden in this site. So ya, we know it's there.

Well, most people don't use the chatroom and this thread is only apparent for as long as it stays at the top of the Site Op. forum.

Making age a required field seems like a good plan.

I for one was unaware of its existence until a few months ago, despite the fact that I've been here for over four years.

Not that it's worth knowing about....

Any official word on this suggestion?

The software does not allow me to prompt for a birthday unless I make it required. The idea is also to not advertise the adult forum to guests and minors. Those who can participate may, but this should not be a main attraction.

Well, why not just make it a required field? That would solve the problem of adult members not knowing about it and wouldn't involve advertising existence of the adult forum to minors.

Because not everyone wants to provide personal information. Sometimes it even discourages people from signing up.

If that reason is genuine, shouldn't you be getting rid of the flags that appear next to users' names when viewing who's online?

Those are an option, not a requirement. I've never enabled mine, for instance.

Well, there's a big United States flag next to your name.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the flags that appear when viewing who's online; not the ones that appear next to a person's username in every post.
