Oh my God am I angry!

The most important issue we can discuss is what education has to do with our liberty, and nothing so vital to our liberty is ever pinned, but the homosexual marriges gets pinned. Could there be a stronger pressure to reduce humans to pathetic, emotional creatures, than this insistence on appealing to emotional garbage and neglect of politically important matters? Media trash is what it is, and it is harmful to realizing our human potential and our liberty. I am not saying we should restrict freedom of speech, but that we need to make different judgements about what is important to keep at the top of a forum, and what can let slide off the front page.

I won't argue that homosexual issues are not very important to some people. There are several issues/ subjects that are highly important to many different special interest groups, and they do not get pinned. The interest in the homosexuality subject is not intellectual. It is emotional and I don't put a high value on emotionalism. Also, the one issue we all share in common is, liberty verse government restriction of liberty. That covers all the different issues, therefore, it is most important discussion to keep in our faces. You are making a value statement when you pin a thread, and I think discussion of liberty is the most valuable discussion we can have.

Besides which thread will get more post, the thread lost on page 15 or one that is pinned? I don't think the number of post in a piined thread, is a good measure of its importance.

Athena, this is an administrative decision and one that is based on the legacy from years past. Some stickied threads, to my recollection, date back to 2003. This isn't up for debate.

I do. The more posts, the greater the interest in the topic. We want to promote popular topics, not a personal agenda. Threads get pinned because they are popular with the members. That's far more fair than the staff picking which threads should be pinned.
