    Broken Feature?

It appears that the Thread Locked feature is broken.

A couple threads have continued posts by mods after they have already been locked.

Seems backwards that mods can continue posting with the knowledge it will go unchallenged without response.

Could this Thread Locked feature be fixed so that when a thread is locked it stays locked?

    which threads in particular?

if the last person who posted in a thread was a mod, the feature isn't broken.

    hope for america...

In every forum I'm a part of, mods can post to locked threads. I don't recall seeing a mod abuse this option. If one does, it should be reported to Jason.

Why continue posting in a topic when it has already been locked?

If one of you had the final say, why does another one need the final say as well?

It's bad enough when the final post has to be unresponded, but subsequent posts in the same thread?

Whoops, this was my fault, I linked to the report responce 2 thread from outside the Site Ops forum and only just noticed it has been locked.

Sorry Z, no conspiricy today; just a case of poor observation on my part.

    I wasn't hunting for a conspiracy.

It's an honest and fair question with an honest and fair "oops".

Now if you guys can learn to stop the little jibs like "no conspiracy" and other such quips, the "oops" would be fine.

Sorry, but your previous post says otherwise.

    Get over it.

    You want blunt honesty?

I wasn't accusing anyone of conspiracy. I was alluding to the fact that posting in an already locked thread is cowardly.

Still... you're an authority figure. You don't have to pick up with the bickering and disagreeing.

You could, however, take some time to reflect on the questions I asked:

Why continue posting in a topic when it has already been locked?

If one of you had the final say, why does another one need the final say as well?
I'm not trying to be difficult. Swallow your pride and give me the respect you want me to give you.

It's an easy mistake to make. To us, a closed thread looks like any other thread; we have a reply box and can post one. You have to be pretty sharp-eyed to spot the little lock icon after the last post. So unless the prior post mentions that the thread is now locked it's easy to overlook.

I have posted to locked threads on purpose, but only to show solidarity with the mod or admin who closed it, to let the members know this was an agreed-upon action among the staff.

That makes perfect sense to me.

The software I have used actually pops up a warning that the thread is locked.

And thank you for answering the question.

Reinforcing that an action was agreed-upon and that there is solidarity makes perfect sense.

You could, however, take some time to reflect on the questions I asked:
Your questions are irrelevent for the reason I, and now Isherwood, have outlined; it was an error of observation - not judgement. As such your questions do not apply because they are not relevent.

And now, please allow me to be 'blunt'; what I think is interesting is that rather than waiting for comfirmation that I, or any other Mod, wanted the 'last word' on the matter and was abusing the feature, you simply made the assumption. Apparently you refused, to consider more mundane possibilities. In other words, you apparently go out of your way to think badly of the moderator team; which I guess is half your problem right there.

Do you want to keep pushing the bickering, Chris?

Or can you let it go?
