Very mad right now...

I've been writing a long thread for a couple of hours for the last 2 days, and when I post it I get this - Atlas, you haven't posted in several weeks. Find a topic that interests you and begin debating today! with all my thread gone !!

So, I could be explaining my extreme rage with a stream of uncivilized words, but what I will do is to suggest some sort of save option for posts and threads that will let you get back to them later on if a disaster like that strikes, possibly placing them in the user CP for posting later on texts that take a little more than 15 minutes to write or think about.

alternatively, you could always write the post in notepad, or word - since you know that you can save it and post it whenever you want.

I'm not sure if vBulletin offers a draft option, most other forums don't. What I'd suggest is to either compose your post in Word or another word processor on your computer, or use Google's Writely or a similar online wp and save it as a draft until you're ready to copy/paste it into the forum.

I'm sorry this happened, but it really isn't Volconvo's fault. Every site with secure logins has an automatic expiry period. Ours is set at 45 minutes, which is 3 times longer than the default. Additionally, the Internet is prone to periodic errors and it is never good practice to rely on a successful submission of a form. Always have a backup copy… even if it's just a quick copy+paste before you submit the form.

If a problem does arise, try hitting the back button as your text may still be available.

Again, I'm sorry that this happened but I assure you that it is not Volconvo's fault. Alternatively, if we didn't have session expiration at all, it would make it extremely easy for someone to access your personal account without your knowledge.

Thanks for the advises, I'm a little less mad right now, guess I won't have to kill everybody then, I actually tried some of the advises (hitting "back" didn't work) like saving in notepad, but first its hard to write in it as the pages size is different and there would be trouble with the copy & paste later, but an internal draft option (if it is possible) or something of a sort would definitely solve the problem to forgetful\lazy people like me.

Ah yes, this is a problem which has irritated the hell out of me a number of times on a number of different forums. On another forum I once had a responce I had been working on for several hours and numbered several thousand words. I completed it and made to post it, only to recieve some form of server error which resulted in the post being lost, and I had not backed up the post. the result was I felt rather drained and could not be bothered with a complete rewrite of the post, in the end I just left a short summary responce. Even despite this experiance (and not for the first time) I still on occassion make the same error of not backing up long posts and still occassionaly lose them. I guess some fools just never learn.

When posting lengthy posts, or replies with previous quotes, I always use notepad or copy my current paragraph to my clipboard so i dont lose it. it happens to the best of us, but whats worse is realizing you cant remember half of what you wrote! XD
