North Korea qualify for World Cup

North Korea qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966 following a goalless draw in Saudi Arabia watched by 66,000 fans.

Iran's failure to defeat South Korea in Seoul earlier meant that North Korea only needed a draw in Riyadh.

They join South Korea, Australia and Japan as Asia's four automatic qualifiers for South Africa 2010.

Here's my question: What if, during the World Cup, North Korea is at war with the UN? Will they be sent home and replaced by some other country?

Wow they qualified for the finals already, and I didn't even know the round of 16 had started! They do this earlier every time ugh..

In all seriousness the UN has absolutely no say over the actions of FIFA, and I hope FIFA would tell the UN where to go if they attempted to interfere with the worlds largest and most beloved sporting event.

An analogous position would be if WWII had broken out in 1936 when Germany was holding the Olympics. Would the Olympic Committee cancel the Games?

I doubt they will kick anyone out of the games, but some parties/teams might withdraw/forfeit the game.


I doubt North Korea will win anyways though. They only made it because of the draw.
