Have any of you gone to look at the teachers in most schools here in the U.S.? go ahead; go to your next parent-teachers night and look around. What do you see? It's like a sea of honkies. Most faculties that I know make a box of Kleenex look multi-racial. I think my current school has a Jewish teacher . . . nope, never mind; he's Episcopalian. Most people profess not to hold any racist views -- but we still make jokes about ebonics, and about the spelling and diction of rappers; people do not want to learn English from a dark-skinned person. The U.S. is certainly not as dead-set against it as this site makes China out to be, but we aren't welcoming other races into the teaching profession with open arms, either. Still, maybe we should admire the Chinese for wearing their racism on their sleeve. "I wish I was as cocksure of anything as Tom Macaulay is of everything." -- Viscount Melbourne | |

| Principled Observer Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 13,873 | Ranting somewhat off-topic, but not really: You know, after reading that link Tiny, it makes me want to go and spend money at Wal-Mart. Actually, spending all of my non-essential income on their products isn't enough. Is there any way you could arrange to set up a "Help Support Nations that DON'T support Human or Property Rights Fund"? It amazes me that people KNOWINGLY flush their American dollars into that societal cesspool, when we have a perfectly good societal cesspool here. If people want to support non-moral, corrupt, right-ignoring politics, they should contribute to the Democrats and Republicans more, and stop sending that money to China. ON TOPIC: I agree with Patrick. At least they wear their prejudice on their sleeve, and people don't have to "act" free there even when they aren't.
