So true. I myself have been a victim of these outspoken women at times. I have been called a "breeder" and a few other names I dare not repeat. They tend to be separatists whose agenda has absolutely nothing to do with equality.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Feminism these days is all about man-hating. There's simply no point in having either that form, or the original form anyway... now that times have changed. And yes, I do realize that not all feminists are of the type that stop shaving their legs and start shaving their heads.

The question implies that the two can be compared. I submit that biologically based differences in the brain and hormonal distributions result in different ways of thinking, different strenghts and weaknesses--- (observation of people, focus or flexibilty of thinking, attention to detail, capacity to visualize objects in space, etc.).

Depending on the task and the social environment one gender will often do better than the other. As the various commonly needed tasks change and society changes with respect to the group dynamic effect on the individual, one gender may wrongly be viewed as becoming more or less intelligent than the other.

Wow, Chuck! You are the ultimate deeprock miner of volconvo! All the way back to last October for your first response.

There is a gender gap in education internationally. Boys get educated and girls don't as much in many countries. But that doesn't comment on their native intelligence.

Quote:
Despite international progress in expanding access to schooling, girls lag significantly behind boys in educational opportunity in 50 countries, according to a new study by Population Action International. In these countries, 76 million fewer girls than boys are enrolled in primary and secondary school.

The study, Closing the Gender Gap: Educating Girls, estimates that it would cost at least $6.5 billion to close the gap in the 50 countries where significant differences in male and female school enrollment exist.

"In many developing countries, girls take a back seat to boys in access to schooling," said Shanti Conly, editor of the study and PAI’s director of policy research. "Girls also drop out more often, whether to help out at home, to get married, or because of pregnancy. The resulting low levels of education contribute to high rates of infant mortality and to a lack of real choices for women in both the reproductive and productive aspects of their lives."

Educational opportunities for girls are worst in Chad, the study shows, where fewer than 1 in 30 girls attend secondary school and where adult women have, on average, less than one month of education. School-age girls fare best in France, where virtually all girls are enrolled in secondary school and women have an average of more than 11 years of education. Chad and France are among 112 countries ranked according to the educational status of girls by the study, which examines the role of education in the success of family planning programs and in improving health.

Here is an interesting article on a recent study. The responses and reasoning by some of the males are funny.

I personally feel that it indicates an approach to equality of the sexes. A point made was that men are doing well in roles normally seen as female.

What do you think?
Yes, we are. If we weren't, we wouldn't have half of the money, and all of the sex!

First you have to come up with a definition of what intelligence is.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with extrapolation. Take a set of circumstances and extrapolate it as far as you can to a valid conclusion.
For example some people have apples drop on their head and go... ouch a damn apple hit me, others come up with the theory of gravity..
I think pretty much most forms of intelligence come down to correct interpretation followed by valid extrapolation, what do you guys think?

I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs and insanity for everyone, but its always worked for me.

According to "Brain Sex" (not a book about sex but the differences in thinking patterns of men and women) Women's brains are more highly innervated than men's.

That means that women are better able to multi-task and men are better able to concentrate on single things.
So if a man is reading the paper and conversing with his wife....
She will probably remember what the kids in the livingroom were fighting about, remember what was on TV in the backround and (sorry guys) remember the conversation better than the man.
(Getting the guy in all sorts of hot water later when he says "you never told me that.")

But the guy is really going to have a solid handle on that newspaper article.

In what area do women not have rights to the same as men? I am speaking only of the United States.

You are leaving out the gay men, but you are mostly right. Yall have all of what I want, thats for sure.

And my opinion: Yes, in many ways, women are smarter than men. Probably a little more emotional at times, but more responsible. There are of course exceptions, but generally, women are smarter.

I do not know the statistics as far as uni lecturers. I had not heard of any problems regarding females, though.

I think now that females are encouraged to enter the science and math arena, they will do just as well. There are many male literary masters too. I do agree that the different genders do have their advantages.
I believe that in an archaic world, men are superior to women because "some" of them possess that dynamic combo of testosterone and brilliance.

Women can be brilliant but their approach is more viable in a highly evolved society. When it comes down to numbers, there are just as many women I have admired for thier roles in society as men. That does not mean that there are many women I have admired, it means few men can take the pedestal, in spite of being men.

Have I confused you enough? LOL

You're such a snot. Someone said men are better at killing, I think it's a positive that women are better at the opposite.

Back to topic, men were given greater gifts of size and strength, etc., and to balance it out, women were given better brain function capacity.

Luckily for us, we can aquire the skills to fight as well as men if we need or want to, but there is no way for a man to re-do his brain to have what we do.

More connections between both sides of the brain being the primary. It actually makes women more fit to be fighter pilots than men (Time magazine, don't remember the year or month published). Extensive studies were done on the differences and reported in that issue.

Odd that being a fighter pilot is one of the areas most difficult to women to get into.
