The vehicle was still running, that's why the cop tased her. Reaching into a running vehicle is dangerous, even if it's in park. Even with a cigarette between their fingers, you'd be surprised how fast someone can shift into drive and pull a cop halfway down the road. You know what they book you for then, right? Attempted murder.

Edit: By the way, don't listen to all of that moaning and screaming. That's all a big show, it's all for the lawsuit. She received two 5-second shocks. The police officers have all been tased before, they know how it feels. Once it's over, that's it. No pain, no aftereffects at all. Motor control returns to normal. All her acting is just annoying. The extent of her injuries was some bleeding from her arm where she ripped the probe out herself. The process of removing the probes is painless and does not usually draw blood.

I hope your old feeble, petite, elderly overly nice grandmothers are pulled over and treated this way.

It's the only thing that would change some of your minds. Then again, most that support this would probably do the same to their mother anyway, since mom could be a terrorist sympathizer for supporting liberals years before.

Both my grandmothers were bought up with alot more respect for the law and people in general than this pig of a woman, and would have complied with the officers request, and would have been genuinely pleasant about it as well.
Also, both are too old to drive now, so it doesnt really matter either way, theres no way their going to get tasered.
I am amazed at the amount of sympathy this woman is getting. Had she just gotten out of the vehicle when asked, none of this would have happened. Instead she decided to act like a child who didn't get her way and paid the price for it. My grandmother would have been out of the car as soon as the police officier asked her. Noone has time or cares what you are talking on the phone about. The police have things to do, they don't have time to wait for you to finish your conversation; she probably wasn't talking about anything important anyway because most people on cell phones usually aren't. The policemen are supposed to enforce the law. They don't have time to put up with your silly little tantrums. I, for one, think the policemen acted in a very professional manner. Maybe next time the woman will do as she is told, and not act like a child. One good thing though is that is was very entertaining watching her act like a 5 year old.

For a brute with a short fuse, perhaps. He never tried to calm her. He even made some snide remark about her into his radio. He should be the collected one.

That is very easy to say. I wonder what you would have done in that place. I think the officer was professional in his restraint. The problem is that there are all sorts of crazies out there and if you do not treat every one you come across as a threat to your life you are more likely to not go home to your family that night. If you act like a jerk to an officer you should expext the officer to take it as a threat because that is what they are trained to do.

No, they don't. I'm sure the officers had other things to do, other than play around with this lady.

Police officers aren't there to comfort you when you are in the wrong. She is not a child, she is a grown adult. Noone has the time or patience to comfort you and go get tissues to wipe your tears away. She got what she deserved. Maybe next time she'll act like an adult, instead of a kid. I really hope the police officers are not punished for this. They were in the right and did their duty, and I think they did it well.

You're just not going to convince me that the police officer doesn't have to treat you as well as the lady at Macy's.

Macy's is a private company and it's employees are paid to comfort the customers. Police officers are public servants and don't get paid enough to care about you or your problems. Noone cares about what you are talking about on the cell phone. Shut up, put the phone away, and do what the officer asks.

If my grandma is going to be that much of a pain in the ass, then I hope she gets tasered. Sorry, but I'm not going to be selfish.

Also, I might add that the two 5-second shocks were for two separate incidents of noncompliance. First for not getting out of the running vehicle (and apparently for swinging at an officer). Second for not placing her hands behind her back.

I prefer to think of it as more the world where whiners are shown no quarter for violating the law and acting as if the officer had no right to stop them. If you recall, the woman tried to dictate the officer's job to him from the start, saying he can not electronically guage her speed while the vehicle is moving. This is not against the law in Boynton Beach, Florida, or anywhere in the United States that I've heard.

Yeah, that cop protected me from that danger of a woman. Her crazy manner would make her hazardous to other drivers, and the cell phone in the car won't help.
