| Igneous Magma Posts: 649 | If a public building put up a nativity scene with two male shepards holding hands off to the side who would be more offended? The left because of a religious reference on public property or the right because of the reference to homosexuality. I would really like to believe most people would just chuckle and drive on by. Unfortunately I am afraid there would be two groups of protesters out on the lawn. One wanting to remove only the shepards and one wanting to leave only the sheppards standing. And naturally both would be accusing the other (correctly) of censorship. ![]() Protester against the culture war!!!! |

One generation inevitably wants to change some things and there's always a big argument between those that look to the past and say "but this way has worked fine and we're used to it" and another group that says "we want to get used to doing things differently". Every side convinced beyond a doubt that the world will go to hell in a handbasket if the other guy gets his way. We humans seem to be doing it so rapidly though. 600-700 years ago we had pretty much the same technology we had 400-500 years ago. After the Industrial Revolution though, our species seems to have reached some sort of critical mass. Causing our social structures and technology to rapid change and metamorphoses. Personally it seems a little to quick a pace, given we've only ben around 60,000 years but hey, we can't go on forever and it doesn't look like humanity's planning on slowing down any time soon so it looks like we're just gonna snuff ourslelves out existance in a flash of light within the next 120,000 years. Kind of sad when you think about the fact that most mammal species stick around for about a million years comming and going. Wish we would at least get a couple million for being such clever prairie apes. But alas it seems like such a radical thing as self realizing matter is to freakish a little ebb and flow in the cosmos to exist for very long. | Hot Lava Posts: 1,859 | they'd have to put up a display of a sheppard screwing a sheep as well... they are totally censoring that life style... oh, not a sexual reference? right... (and the answer is the right because the left has no morality to offend) "I really like this jacket, but the sleeves are much too long..." insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results... |

| Molten Ash Posts: 90 | The right would be more upset. The left, because they support the Bill of Rights, would be opposed to a public building promoting any particular religion. They do not hate religion, and many find value in it. The right, however, hate homosexuals. >>>--~(τΏτ)~---> |

Public officials and spaces have a duty to neither endorse nor disparage any particular religion. "Any man willing to trade freedom for security deserves neither." -Benjamin Franklin |
