The people you are thinking of are centrist liberals, not leftists. Genuine leftists recognize that "affirmative action" is a liberal position.
Oh really? What is to be made of Rick Perry's joking treatment of "Niggerhead", Ron Paul & others' condemnation of the Civil Rights Act, Rick Santorum's "blah people" moment, Bachmann's apologia for slavery? The list goes on and on.

I'm only aware of two of these, and they are not representative of the entirety - or even the majority - of the Republican Party. It's interesting to note that all of these individuals represent the fringe wing of the Republican Party. Santorum is the most Christian Conservative candidate in history. Bachmann - was she the witch, or was she the wild-eyed crazy bitch? I can't remember. Perry, of course, is legendary in his assault on women here in Texas. And Paul the libertarian loon.Oh really? It's not sexist, because a) bitch can be applied to men, b) I often call male politicians dicks, if the descriptor applies, and c) the descriptor applies. Hillary and Pelosi are also bitches. That doesn't mean all, or even most, female politicians are bitches. It just means these specific ones are bitches.
It is so awesome that you thought to mention that, too, because it leads me to a point I'd like to make. In both race and sexism, you take isolated instances and extrapolate a larger (and incorrect) generalization from it.

"Bitch" is a derogatory term used to compare women to dogs. I like how you act like it can be applied to men, as if that somehow makes it not sexist. Calling a man a "bitch" is comparing him to a female dog, just like calling a woman a "bitch" is comparing her to a female dog.
"The place of the worst barbarism is that modern forest that makes use of us, this forest of chimneys and bayonets, machines and weapons, of strange inanimate beasts that feed on human flesh"

The computer game analogy is brilliant. Life is pretty much a poorly balanced video game. With whites being the OP BS race, and pygmies being the "wtf were the developers thinking!" race.
The Tim (un)Wise bit was meh. I'm willing to admit life is unfair and that white straight males have the biggest head-start, but its a whole other thing to start feeling guilty about it. Like the computer game article said "the computer chooses the difficulty setting for you. You don’t get a choice;", our starting stats are out of our control. It may be wise to be grateful for our privilege, and feel pity towards non-whites.... but feeling guilty? Surely not. Guilt is only warranted when you have made some wrong choose(s), but nobody CHOOSE to be white.

With the exception of the tiny asian minority in America, it seems its a real bitch (see what I did there?) not being a white man in the US.
Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

Thats really weird huh? Asians and Whites have the highest income? With the exception of the tiny asian minority in America, it seems its a real bitch (see what I did there?) not being a white man in the US.
Woah! This trend continues in other countries too? What? East Asians and Whites have higher incomes in every country? That aren't right! Whats going on here?

It was indeed a comparison of women to female dogs, also having connotations of promiscuity. It's long worn out its old definition, as I'm sure anyone could tell you, and now can be used to describe any stuck up or otherwise irksome woman, or can be used against either sex if they have a habit of spreading malicious gossip.
I don't really hold with this attitude that because a swear word is used predominantly against men or women that it is sexist. Men swear more than women and yet there are far more swear words for men than for women (dick, prick, cock, wanker, tosser, bastard, motherfucker) and swear words referencing females can be used against men more readily than their counterparts (bitch, twat, cunt). Indeed it is far more acceptable to swear at a man than at a woman, although swearing is more acceptable in men than in women. Swings and roundabouts, I guess.
