in our country you get arrested for doing that

Bugs, at the end of the day, who gives a monkeys' about the American Revolution and all that? You won. We lost. What exactly does that have to do with gun control? Shall we move on now?

Okay, so your country has a completely different culture. Guns are taboo, even to the criminal element (if they werent, gun crime would be just as serious as it is here). Well, thats nice that it works for you. In MY country, the gun has been part of our national identity since YOUR country sent soldiers to relieve the locals in a couple of places (you know where) of the contents of their armouries. The locals didn't take too well to that crap and started a war that ended with, among other things, me being able to say, in public, "Fuck the queen".
It isn't really your country, unless you're of Native American origins. Otherwise you're just another colonist.

Kidding aside, I think we can both agree with the massive cultural differences between UK and USA, a change in the law for either would be unacceptable.

S***...LAPD WISHES someone like me had been one of the innocent bystanders. That gun battle would have lasted a lot less than 44 minutes if someone like me had been there. Of course, the poor bastard probably would have gone to jail for the gun he stopped the battle with being a "semi automatic assault style weapon".
Do you truly believe that you can take a human life without the blink of an eye? Perhaps you should go get enlisted with the Armed forces, they wouldn't even need to desensitise you.

It has everything to do with gun control. "At the end of the day", that is exactly what it boils down to. The rights of the people are more important than some bureaucrat trying to make a name for himself by attacking inanimate objects instead of understanding who he works for. Hitler was for gun control. I'm against it. Shall we move on now?

Exactly. This thread got hashed out months ago. The majority of the people here don't want guns, the majority over there are happy with them. 'Nuff said.

Yes, Lou, we can move on. Quite a few of us moved on from the American Revolution. Times change & all that.

Are you trying to say that the British people are oppressed because we don't have access to guns for killing and maiming each other?

Not at all (even though that might be true), I'm just saying you are complete and utter fools for allowing your government to legislate away your ability to defend yourself and making you think that a gun has a brain and the ability to "kill and maim"(like your government does and has been doing for over a thousand years) someone on its own.

Gee, I wonder what Wanita Young would have done had she kept a shotgun in her home? Could it have been that the girls would have baked their last cookie?
Could happen. It'd be a crying shame though. I hate to see wackos hurt someone with a gun, or anything for that matter. However, that being said; it's still better for fair minded citizens to be armed.

There are hundreds of murders a day in this country. I doubt that many of those victims were armed. Some people are justifiably shot. They were shot by their intended victim. That's good. Sad, sure; but still good.

PH DC won' touch your guns. On this I am 100% certain. If you were correct the AWB wouldn't have been allowed to fall.
DC won't touch my guns? Is this supposed to be a joke?

Right, but when you peep throught that thing have a shotgun in your hands. You just can't believe how a shotgun changes the dynamic of the experience.
