Odd thing is that this used to be the way all marriages worked. I think the idea will become the norm once more people are aware of it.

"Marriage Licensure" caught on in the US in order to prevent "Miscegenation" between Blacks and Whites in the Northeast.
Covenant Marriages are, IMO, the only valid form of Marriage. I refuse to ask some beurocratic hack's permission to marry the woman I love.

How did it become the exception? Well, it usually starts with listening to the French.

I think covenant marriages will make a comeback because they require fault to be established before a divorce is granted. Who wants to take the risk of owing child support for children he will never see or being forced to sell the house in a good neighborhood because she can no longer afford the payments?
