![]() Juris Doctor Location: NY Posts: 2,412 | I'm going to keep myself subscribed to this topic so that I can link to it whenever anyone from the UK gets all silly and tries to tell me that the UK is "more democratic" or whatever than the USA. Seriously though, doesn't this subject remind Britons that they should be tossing these idiots out on the street and turning all these palaces into museums? |

It's a waste of column inches, and I can't picture the media soap opera ending any time in the foreseeable future. Save me having to read about it, and save them being born into such an unenviable position (may sound funny, but I don't envy the royals' privaledge to be harrassed by the media). |

Most Britons don't care either way, a handful are either staunch monarchists or republicans. I hate the assumption that because we have a monarchy you assume we like it. The EU can't pass a law banning Nazi regalia, not legally anyway. It's against the European Convention on Human Rights. Oh, and remember, the current royal family isn't royal. The royal bloodline was cut by Henry VII, when he took the throne from Richard III. Henry Tudor was not of royal blood, he was an illegitimate bastard. The actual King of England is a slightly fat Aussie. Last edited by G. Adams; Jan 17, 2005 at 06:47 pm. | |
