But, in some marriages it's 100% financial contribution and 100% domestic engineering contribution, leaving one party out in the cold if the financial contributor takes a hike ... best suited to take on another 100% domestic engineering job, it's hard (maybe impossible) for the domestic engnineering partner to make a go of it in the work world ... without some support, ... and maybe it's temporary support until s/he can get it together. |

I guess it boils down to this, if you get married and you want your wife to stay at home and that is a decision that you have both made and her economic earning power suffers then you share in some of the damage cause by that choice. I would suggest that any couple getting married work that out prior to the wedding and if there is doubt that either party can be trusted in the decision then do not get married or write a better prenup. Then when the kid turns 5 they get a divorce and the mom- not having worked for 5+ years is out of a job, 100% qualified to get a job, but out of a job. My point was that women are pretty much 100% equal to men now. This isn't the days of 1980 and the movie "9 to 5" |

Then you'll see some of the raw data for the poverty figures I alluded to earlier. [edit] but in your defense, I picture a "Bon Bon Barbie" who just let it all go ... her looks, and her brains, and then Ken is stuck with this Blob who just spends the paycheck. Of course he's going to work late, with his secretary, or someone else with a recognizable shape and personality. Still ... what sort of "negotiations" led to this crazy situation? I myself will never get married again unless I have much more to gain than loose. In that case my spouse to be will be the dang fool because I will not sign a prenup. Not that I expect any takers under that scenario. Starboy Last edited by Starboy; Dec 31, 2004 at 03:49 pm. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 370 | okay my apologies I had partner support and child support roled into the one concept. Is it outdated I don't know as I am not privy to the variables that may make it viable. Australian Political Discussion Site Aussies: Welcome to the Rudd Regime Yanks: Welcome to Hell Now Purgatory.
