Can we get the fuck off the idea that discussing things you don't want to discuss is "overanalyzing?"

Overanalyse is what we do here Gorgo. I was just expressing my opinion and you of course can discuss whatever you want.

Out of your government?

So now its YOUR government?

Wow talk about arrogant and intolerant... borderline bigotry.

Good job, anything else Herr Gorgo?

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

SO, you not only hate reality, but you hate your own religion to the point where you have to force it onto other people.

Now you seem to hate the German language as well.

A Christmas tree is forcing a religion on you? Again the power of the Christmas tree amazes me.

Reality? Here' s a reality check for you Gorgo, you don't believe in God, or religion as you have so forcefully stated. That being the case, you are demanding that all Americans be forced to conform with your views. Thus you wish to wipe religion out of public life.

Whose forcing whose beliefs on others? WE aren't asking you to celebrate Christmas and attend mass with us, we are asking that you allow us the FREEDOM enumerated in the Constitution, to express our religion. You on the other hand demand, DEMAND that we obey your secular and sterile views in direct opposition to the Constitution.

You can "believe" whatever nonsense you wish to "believe." Just keep it out of my face, and keep it out of my government.

Do you think religion has so little merit that it must be pushed down our throats by government?

Your government? You really don't want to take possession for it do you? C'mon Gorg, you know damn well it is their government and we are just the victims of it.

Ever see one of those soap-box preachers talking about how martians are coming or some goofy shit? Would you want your government paying for that guy? Do you really want to hear him speak? Don't get mad because we think you guys are nuts... and don't expect us to just ignore it, you're not handicap you're a lunatic, we are aloud to point and laugh according to the rules of political correctness (If i understand the PC handbook correctly). We aren't taking you down from your soup box, just like with those lunatics, we wouldn't want to touch you, we don't know where you've been, but we do know how you'll snap and frankly being burned at the stake doesn't sound lik a barrel of laughs.

Gorgo, if you feel that it's being pushed down your throat by your government then you have a pretty weak sense of....whatever sensibility of yours is being offended. Get over it man, it's a freakin' holiday. I stand by what I said earlier; if this is your community's glaring issue then your pretty well off compared to most.

On the subject of "paying for Christmas scenes/trees or the like" I have one word:

Abortion. (its funded by the Federal/State/Local Governments to some extent)

I know atleast 50% of the country doesn't believe in it, but our tax dollars pay for it anyway.

Oh what.. wait thats a "right" you say? Where? Oh some judges made it one through creative writing...

Freedom of religious expression is clearly in the constitution, plain as day. Yet you demand that it not be paid for?

Sorry no can do. Try a different arguement cause thats a dead line issue.
"50%"... are you pulling that out of recent elections or some poll take by... who? If it's the election I don't think that the vote quite translates that way. If it had been only a referendum on abortion... maybe. I knew pro-Life people who held their nose, voted Kerry, and those who were pro-Choice, held their nose, and voted Bush. Taking any one topic out of that election and claiming that's where the vote came from is bogus, in my opinion. BTW, why is it the exit polls were supposedly all wrong, except when it came to the "morals" question? (The same question so many are eager to auto-translate into anti-Gay marriage... an issue the candidates mostly agreed on???)

Funded abortions? For the most part I agree with you, actually. The Pro-Life people and the Pro-Choice people can have "cake sales" (or whatever) to fund abortions or "save the fetus"/adoption. I can think of exceptions, of course.

"Freedom of Speech" is indeed "plain as day." But should the government fund such activities? For the most part I would say no, unless all get funded: a sticky wicket at best. Now, access to protesting on public property like public squares? As long as it doesn't interfer with normal pedestrian traffic or public business that must be done, government should fund the availability of such space, but availabilty only. After all. by definition, it is public funded. That means we've already paid for that space.

If it's unimportant to you that it's there, then it's unimportant to you if it's removed as a violation of the separation of church and state, so you'll want to stay out of the discussion and the decision process.

By having a manger scene on public land, or chaplains in the military or the Congress, you are asking me to subsidize your insanity. "Worship" your crazy gods all you want. No one is stopping you. Just asking politely that you stop trying to make me a second class citizen and stop trying to make me subsidize your insane behavior.

Well if life is great for you, why do you need to make a boogey man out of Santa Claus, Corgo? You have issues, you're the kind of weasel who would steal candy from a child because it was too fucking happy on Easter Sunday. You probably haven't had your ass kicked real good in this life and are in need of it real real bad.

How many times a day does this happen to you?

If it happens, perhaps it's the method of your greeting. How many fingers do you hold up when you attempt to give your good cheer?

Sure, I'll support that Gorgo, when we stop paying for Abortions, PBS, the NEA and a few other issues I find equally horrid, we can erase all refference to God or Religion from every scrap of Public record, re-write the Constitution while we are at it (remove that pesky 1st Amendment thing) and establish your religion (athiesm) as the State Religion.

Yes, well, for those , unlike Vicchio, who wish to know something about the First Amendment and the separation of church and state, you might like this quiz.

Seperation of Church and State means that Congress cannot establish a Church of America.

Thats the only reason its there. Not to keep Schools from having Christmas Trees...

Sometimes I wonder if this country is worth serving when this sort of thinking Gorgo pushes is taken seriously.

There is no problem here Vicchio. No one is stopping you from going to church, or uttering inanities to whomever you please. No one is stopping radios from playing in buses because they might play Christmas music.

If in the neighborhoods that you hang around in some people are on certain substances which cause them to tell you to go to hell because you say Merry Christmas, suck it up and live with it. Those people are probably Christians anyway.
