Often, we hear people talking about the spread of American culture. For some, American culture is fun and exciting. For others, it is imperialism.

Yet beyond the black and white "left and right" arguments within the United States and Europe, lies a vast world. Even leftists who claim to be against American Imperialism may unconsciously impose their own brand of American Imperialism on other cultures.

There are some cultures in the world who practice arranged marriage. This is the process where the bride and bridesgroom have no choice in their marriage partners, chosen by their families.

Many Americans and Europeans are shocked by such practices. Well-used to their individualistic culture, Americans and West Europeans usually do not condone a situation where one must sacrifice oneself for the good for the community.

Keep in mind that in many cases, the bride and groom might actually support arranged marriages! (Remember that not everyone shares your opinion on morality, even if you are a christian)

In the case of arranged marriage, would you:

    1) Support the enforcement of American/European Imperialism, and demand for arranged marriages to be banned

    2) Support cultural identity, and allow them to have their arranged marriages

Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.

If the child supports the marriage just prior to it, then they could go through it as any other marriage. If they are against it, I don't see why they should have to marry.
