I think its something to do with socialisation, ith the way people are taught to treat others. But I cant quite put my finger on it.

It doesn't seem like a difficult question. If any other country had troops in over 200 bases around the world and invaded countries that hadn't attacked it but merely because it wanted to, we would hate that country too.

The truth is most folk around the world admire our culture and the freedom of our society. They hate our foreign policy and growing arrogance and empire.

Otherwise, I'd agree. As a Brit, I admire the majority of Americans as individuals. But I despair at the lack of interest & understanding in affairs beyond the borders of the US, and the growing belief that the US is always right & the 'best' culture, which is increasingly combined with a desire to do 'quick-fix' solutions, which cause all sorts of havoc.

MattW, please do not confuse our government for being a representative system. It has been a non-representative system since after WWII, and the American people are at war with their media, their elected officials, their system of election and the overall deviation from the Constitution this society has endured over the last 71 years of corruption behind the doors of the White House, Congress and the Senate.

I can prove these statements if you wish.

Osbourne:- Don't worry, I don't view the US government as representative of the American people. In fact, I doubt many governments are these days, purely because Joe Public is never party to half the information (be it true or false) that governing officials use to make their decisions.
