Some of the arguments against some things being protected by, or made equal by, the law, is that it represents a society's acceptance, etc.

I don't beleive that. I reject that utterly. No society's people will ever fully support any law. There are always opponents.

Bigots don't want civil unions for GLBTI because, in their view, it implies acceptance by all society. I am just uttely irked by these sort of arguments.

Does the legality of pollution indicate we accept it? No!

intersex, I havent heard that one. And I thought I knew butt loads of this gender stuff. Learn something new everyday I guess, I didn't realize intersex was a synonym for hermaphrodite.

I don't personally accept very many laws so I guess I can agree. The legal system is overused.

I suppose if there is no acceptance in society of something, it wont get made legal. Nothing to do with principles, just real world practice. Hence no likelihood of prostitution becoming legal.

To think the law is based on sound principle is optimistic sometimes.
