What were the Top 10 defining moments of the first Decade?

I came accross this similar question on an Australian news web site, but it seemed more geared towards celebrities and their antics.

I was wondering, since we're about to soon head into 2010, from 2000-2009, what are your top ten defining moments that shaped this decade?

What moments, people or events do you first think of when it comes to the begining of this Millennium?

To make it a bit more complicated, please rate these from 10 (lowest impact) to 1 (highest impact).

Or don't, I really don't care.... just want to hear people's feedback.

First thing that comes to mind is the Kanye West and Taylor Swift incident. This will forever have an effect on peoples lives.

The next defining moment in history in my opinion would have to be when it was announced that Ninja Warrior all-star Katsumi Yamada had alienated his family to compete, only to fail every single time. He's currently a hard working hot-dog vendor, I believe.

Third would have to be when well-known hypocrite Jesse Jackson said he wanted to "cut Obama's nuts off". Not only did this provide plenty hours of laughter for me, but it also helped warn males to never go near Jesse Jackson while hes wielding sharp objects. That is, if you were planning on starting a family.

4th would have to be the tragic death of the mentally disabled "King of Pop" Michael Jackson. We may see him again, walking the streets with his clique of deformed zombies. After all, Halloween is only a few days away.

I only have 4 at the moment. I'll post more when I think of them.

September 2007. Senator Harry Reid, the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, while American soldiers are on the field of battle in Iraq, declares “the war is lost”.

Indeed, this was epic as well.

Or March, 2003, when the Bush Administration lied to the American people and led us into a giant cluster**** we are still embroiled in today.

I don't follow Hollywood antics or pop culture. I barely know who those people are. Their antics have no bearing on my life.

My defining moment's are as follows:

My husband's death in 04 would definitely be number one. I can't think of one aspect of my life that didn't change and the effect it had on a lot of our friends and family.

The rest are in no particular order:

Deaths of my in-laws. Father-in-law (04) Mother-in-law. (07)

The change in my parent's health. Father's heart attack (04) Mother's cancer. (05)

911

Iraq war

Oldest son joining the Army.

Middle son moving back home bringing Andrew, the Great Dane, to live with us. (I now have a four footed, 200LB, 2 year old in the house)

Stock Market "crash"

The 2008 US Presidential Election

I don't really follow them either. Sometimes they may be on Yahoo's front page, or somewhere on TV and I get a good laugh out of it. I don't go searching for celebrity news. Somehow it finds me.

Taylor Swift is a popular, conceited country singer, and Kanye West is a childish rap artist who often throws temper trantrums when he doesn't win awards, or things just don't go the way he wants them to in general.

Now you know them.

OK ...there was one aspect that did not change. I was then and still am an atheist.

You mean you're still 1% ape? Aww man...

Your name is still the same, isn't it? Thats an aspect!
You should still be the same height.
You didn't forget how to drive a car, I hope.

The list goes on.

I wasn't talking about my physical makeup, so go ahead, make an ass of yourself. Still won't change the fact you have ape in you as well and you sometimes act like an animal.

For your information, my name did change. I'd have social security confirm this for you, but my name is none of your business. And no, I didn't forget how to drive a car. I just don't ride in the passenger seat any more.

Maybe you should concentrate on getting your life back on track instead of worrying about me, since you've been so effected by some two bit Hollywood hacks.

Top Ten defining Moments of the ' first decade '....I'm going to assume you mean the first decade of man ...

at number 10: Ugh learns that it's not good to eat his own flesh
at number 9: Erg learns that it's not OK to copulate with an angry Mammoth, but a happy one doesn't care
at number 8: Ugine discovers that toe jam has a very peculiar taste when you haven't washed your feet for weeks
at number 7: GeminiBrian realizes that he is not evolving with the other primates
at number 6; Ugh discovers water and uses it to throw on Sabertooths for fun
at number 5: Ugine tells Ugh that that isn't what water is for and proceeds to show him that if you throw it off a cliff it makes rain
at number 4: Erg finds a round rock and rolls it on the ground and creates bowling night
at number 3: Ugh takes rock away from Erg and gives it to Ugine creating the first pet rock
at number 2: Ugh and Ugine elope to Las Vegas

and the number one defining Moment of the ' first decade '

( drum roll )

Erg, all alone now, dejected, goes on a quest to find the answers to life...wandering endlessly he finally comes across another round rock like he used to have and mutters ' gawd '

and religion was born.

You never pointed out that you weren't talking about your physical makeup.

Get my life on track instead of worrying about you? You're the one posted your life story. If you didn't want people talking about it, keep it to yourself.

And just know that you're no better than those "two bit Hollywood hacks". I'd have a chimp help confirm this for me, but I think they're busy evolving right now. You'd have to wait a few million years until they adapt and learn how to speak English.

I don't care if you talk about it, but I expect you to logically think instead of digging up obscurities that have no relation to how a person's life changes when their spouse dies.

I answered the topic. My replies made a hell of a lot more sense than yours. Really? How did Michael Jackson's death effect you on a personal level? Still putting on your shoes, one foot at a time?

Please explain exactly how I'm "no better" than those two Hollywood hacks who effected you so deeply?

I wouldn't expect you to understand the first thing about evolution. Your bible did mention talking asses though and to think... I only had to wait 2000 years to hear one.

I answered the question as well as you did, which was:

Quote:
What moments, people or events do you first think of when it comes to the begining of this Millennium?
There is no right or wrong answer as long as its in the beginning of this Millenium.

I wasn't aware we were having a "Best Reply" contest. I'll try harder to make my response more entertaining than yours next time.

Are you saying you're a slightly more developed chimp than they are? Thats not nice!

Ok, now you're just talking crazy. I can't be an ass if I'm apparently descended from a chimp. Get your evolution facts straight, sister!

I think that deserves a place in the new 'quotes' thread - I'll see to it.
