The only reason this topic exists is because of christianity's social dictating.

They say it's wrong and 5 billion people go "how much higher should I jump?" ESP. government officials who are chistians.

I do NOT worry about gay people wanting to commit to each other in marraige.

I worry a LOT about people who are obsessed about where other people put their sex organs.

I do NOT worry about how consenting adults want to choose their partners.

I worry a LOT about people who think they have the right to tell others how to live.

Or, no marriage benefits at all. Being single is discrimination.

I think its well established that banning homosexuals from marriage makes no sense. That leaves only the question of why these beliefs are still so widepsread. And I think we can all answer that one...

There's lots of stuff I believe people shouldn't do. Banning stuff just doesn't work. That isn't absolute in every case, but in many cases it draws people to it.

I remember when I was 8 or 9 and we played a game called Dungeons and Dragons. Alot of us played BattleTech too. Exact same game, but with robots in the future. Inexplicably, that game was acceptable to play, cause robots are good? The sight of pentagrams sent people realing. You probably never would have heard of either of these games if there wasn't such a drive to ban people from playing D&D.

Now, as I walk down the aisle of my local Fry's Electronics, I loose count of the AD&D, Neverwinter, Dungeon Keeper or Robo/Mecha/Battle software titles that line the shelves. You could argue just that genre alone drives the entire software industry. Same with the band "Twisted Sister". I had a friend who's grandmother took all his records, and burned them. Then came Marilyn Manson, almost forgotten now.

Back to marriage, the problems don't arrise from allowing the activity, but in prevention. Judges and Mayors overturning and granting liceses outside their authority. Wasting taxpayer money overturning the others decision. I'm not saying we must be liberal as Holland, but we have way to many laws in this country.

I'd also like to add, there is a difference between tolerance, and forced acceptance. Most people tolerate gays. As a matter of fact, people can tolerate just about anything. Right now, gays are forcing the rest of us to accept them. Ending the forced acceptance, will make the entire thing a non-issue. Then, we can go back to weather or not the California State Seal should have an oil rig on it.

I am sort of fuzzy on this. I can think of things I would consider forced acceptance but I cannot think of anything the Gay community is doing that would qualify as forced acceptance.

You are not saying that allowing two homosexuals to marry is somehow forcing you to accept them are you?

To me it seems making you attend the wedding or forcing a priest or anyone for that matter, to officiate the wedding would qulaify but not a private wedding.
Anyway I do not mean to put words in your mouth here. Got any examples of forced acceptance of Gays?
    Maybe I missed something.

Ive been thinking lately about whether gays are born that way (figured this was as good a place as any to put it).

Well, I think guys who like guys, do for the same reason I have a thing for red heads. So the question is, why do I have a thing for red heads? I was probably born that way, even though I didnt realize it until I was in my teens. Mabey gays really are born that way, but dont realize until they are in their teens, much like straights are born that way, but they dont realize it until they reach puberty either.

Preference of Pre determined? Mabey its both? Make any sense?

I am still waiting for a response to how "forced acceptance" as opposed to "tolerance" is being applied by the gay community.

To me letting someone I do not know marry someone else I do not know has absolutely NO effect on me. At most it allows them to do something I have a right to do as a hetrero. Sort of like not making them sit in the back of the bus for being different than me.
I see this as the far low end of tolerance, if tolerance even applies.

Are there others who sees "forced acceptance" in this? If Comp does not wish to respond to this, could someone else clear this up for me who holds the same view? Or is it something else that is being considered "forced acceptance" besides the gay marriage thing?
