Your post is so right that it requires its own category--like, an ex cathedra opinion. ![]() Anyway, I do agree with you. Adolf Hitler failed almost every subject as a young student not because he was incapable, but because he chose not to apply himself. Later on in life, he woke the hell up, and began his life as a voracious reader. Public libraries, as you point out, flyohiou, were abundant resources of knowledge, and Adolf as a poor aspiring artist and bohemian gobbled up all of the education available within them. I need not say what he went on to accomplish. But you're right, flyohiou, the power of education ultimately lies not in money but within oneself. Some would say, "But the slower ones can't self-educate themselves. They need help." Well, your post covers that, too. The world needs ditch-diggers. Sorry. |
