But there are a couple of genuine issues. Romantic relationships conflicting with orders, as well as men being chivalrous when they shouldn't.
haha. just realised you were reffering to on the battle feilds..

If a Romantic relationship contradics with orders, then the couple can make a decision.
Go home, or follow orders.
The same as anyone else who has a problem with orders.

By chivalry do you mean jumping in front of bullets and protecting females on the battle field?
It should be made clear that they arn't expected to do that. If they choose to anyway, then it wouldn't be any different to dying for a mate. Its their choice.

I'm wondering if WW is concerned about fragging?

It's how the troops deal with members of their platoon they don't care for. Numerous "accidents" have been attributed to this practice.

Not to go off topic but this is fragging: Frag (military - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Consider that it's the "brotherhood" that binds soldiers. They are stripped of their individuality in boot camp and built back up as one unit.

Actually I was more concerned with a CO sending his lover's boy friend/husband to his death so he could get the girl.

Heh...I'm sure that could happen but in all reality, not likely considering that's no way to start a relationship. He's going to have to live with her dead husband's memory along with her.

It would make for an interesting movie script.

In all reality, the guilt would eat him alive and if she ever found out, it's court martial for him. (heh..does it matter if we stay on topic in this thread anymore?) We can start a new one on this if you are interested.

New question, should the United States make a constitutional amendment that eliminates all legal discrimination of women?

I don't care what USA does. I'm never going to move there.

As far as I know, we already have legislation like that.

What has the constitution to do with it?
Does it recommend discrimination of women?

Plato discussed the idea that homosexual men make great soldiers because no man would be seen as a coward towards his lover on the battlefield and so would fight harder to defend and protect them.

That's my stance, but I can see the other side on this one.

15th amendment: Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Why not sex as well. It's a good question.

Well doesn't that include women?
It says "The right of citizens", are not women considered citizens there?

???? Do you think homosexuals will charge more for their service than straights?

It says the rights of a citizen to vote shall not be abridged by...bla bla bla.

Basically means no one can stop a citizen from voting based on race, color or previous conditions of servitude.

hahaha, no I mean that will lovers ignore orders and save each other when a commander says no. Emotions/Drama/etc could become a factor.

There are a number of reasons somebody might disobey a direct order. I think barring the order being illegal (and there are provosions for that in the UCMJ), disobeying a legal order is punishable, and really, the "why" is not really crucial. Whether it be sexual/romantic feelings, political beliefs, etc., too bad. People can be JUST as passionate about their religious beliefs, or moral convictions, etc as about other humans, so I don't think this is a valid reason to prohibit women (or gays...) from the military.

I found it now, you should of given me the 19th amendment.
"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."

One day when you find yourself sitting in a foxhole and bombs are dropping, take the time to ask this again "Emotions/Drama/etc could become a factor". To see your mate whether male or female get their head blown off does tend to cause a certain amount of Emotions/Drama/etc.

This is not my place to debate, but I've always wondered... What are women's and men's views about Women's rights? It kind of brings up a lot of questions, so I don't think you can really be off topic. Post please!

This is actually the only place I agree with the bible. Ladies, get in the kitchen, make me a sammich!

I think rights should be equal to all people. Now that the power of the pen is greater than the power of the sword, that is possible.

No. That will just create a big legal mess everytime some guy tells a bad joke or something. It's already to the point where you have to consider possible legal consequences before you ask a girl on a date.. Lets not make it any worse.
