Actually, the most interesting thing is why do you create blogs with only one topic each? Everytime you want to talk about women, you don't have to create a separate blog to do it. Man, I hate to be tough on new people who join the forums... but you've already got 56 people who commented on your blog with that one silly post. What do you want from us?

I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water.

I didn't write that.

He may have a new name, but he's no stranger to Volconvo.

That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.

Well.... I feel kind of dirty for reading the whole thing but I think there were some tiny shreds of useful info in there, just so buried under all the intense misogyny they are hard to find.

I agree that the media (advertising and entertainment) does a flat out abhorrent thing by overwhelmingly portraying men (in general) idiots at best. That *does* annoy me.

I also agree that there does seem to be this exaggerated Madonna-Whore thing going on with on one hand the idolization of "feminism" and in the same breath the bizarre cult worship of the Spears family of trainwrecks, Lindsay Lohan, Anna Nicole Smith, etc. I guess one could say that empowerment means being able to chose to be a freaking idiot, but it does seem like a waste of all that energy our fore-mothers put into it.

I'm not quite sure what the picture of the tattoos on the small of the backs was supposed to portray, and the rest of it seemed like the rantings of somebody with *major* issues.... but... there is some worthy material to be salvaged.

The picture presented of Scott Peterson as an innocent man being persecuted was in some of the worst taste I've encountered in a while.

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

*That* is who that was! I couldn't place the picture.

I thought all the blogs were in poor taste, if that's not too much of an understatement.

Whoever that author is (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) has serious mental issues. It's not healthy to feel that degree of hostility toward a group of people, least of all women. I presume this person had a mother. I can only imagine what their relationship is like. I can't picture a person with this mental handicap interacting at all with women in a positive fashion. At the very least he displays an inability to adjust to modern life. It appears he thinks women shouldn't have advanced at all since the 1950s. I'd recommend he stay inside and watch TVLand all day. Then he'll be happy in his little misogynistic world and not infect the real one.

And Google really ought to tell him about starting multiple blogs on the same topic. Really amateur blogging.

I think your summation is correct, and that you have put your finger on something critical here. The right to be an idiot, or as I say, the right to subscribe to ones own reality.

Unfortunately, I see a lot more "empowerment" in our future.

That post was the worse kind of trashing of women I 've ever seen.

I hope the montiors remove O.P. trash A S A P. It is the most offensive thing targeting women I have ever witnessed in my life.
(and I have been around the block a few times).

Hate speech has no place here even if you call it free speech.

It's not in violation of the rules. It's an unpopular opinion, to be sure, but it's only an opinion.

You've got to admit, it's the rare topic that can unite 99% of the active membership here in a unified response. Doesn't it feel good when we can almost all agree on something?

Okay, good point.

But it sort of looked liked a politcal advertisement from the hate Hillary people. I guess women bashing is a topic and gay bashing is "interesting" to some people.

If it was a hate Jews link instead of a hate women link, then what?

Yeah, he reminds me of Ninesteps who used to post stuff like this, I think he got the boot already so I guess it is not the same guy... perhaps. But it is hard to tell as someone might sneak back in under a different nickname.

It would be hard to find out if they changed their I P address.

making essentially the same point-by-point arguments is pretty convincing though, coupled with the fact that both of those previous users are now banned...

We have/had those, too. We can't just ban a debate because the topic is unpopular or offensive to some. As long as the topic is debated and the thread doesn't devolve into a flame against the member who posted it there's no rule violation.

I am not a big fan of banning anyone or topic, but I would like a little advance warning before I scroll down and look at a lot of "in bad taste" photos.

The "hey folks, this might interest a lot of you" is not much of a warning.

I would not want someone posting photos of aborted infants, or photos of bloody dead people in Iraq. Ya know what I mean... posters should be somewhat decent about their postings. Send the shock jocks back to the radio stations and leave us internet people alone.

I am only giving my opinion as I did not flag this debate nor did I PM any monitor to ban it. I often take the unpopular "underdog" side of a sensitive topic, such as in those cigarette debates, gun control debates, and those creationist debates. But when I do I fully expect everyone to flame me (in a nice way) for my stand.

Women have changed a lot over the years, and that could have been a really good topic. It is just that I reacted to the images shown and the total false way the topic was presented and introduced. That might just be "my problem". It looked more like bashing then debating to me.

True that. I, too, would appreciate a warning. That's not something we can enforce, but politeness might dictate a content warning.

Well then let's steer this conversation back onto the road.

I thought there were a few points to be gleamed from this. The state of women's culture is a mess, but it's a mess because our entire culture is a mess.

I actually have heard repeated neo-feminists get on different news networks and say that Paris Hilton is a good business woman and a role model for women entering the workplace because she knows that sex sells and exploits that. If Paris Hilton is a good business woman, Jenna Jameson must be Donald Trump.

Anyway, the idea that women have to act like whores is reflective of the cultural idea that it's favorable for men to be "pimps".

And so it comes to pass that Sexual Slavery is actually cool and hip. Even if the people involved don't know what they're really saying, it results in the messed up culture we now inhabit.
