That's not a matter of chivalry, it's a matter of being a jerk... He would have done that no matter who was standing there in line. That being said, would you prefer to have chivalry and honor, or equal treatment and equal rights? You cannot have both. Don't forget... Lawyers were writing the Constitution while doctors were still bleeding people with leeches...

I just think that men particularly should know better. It used to be expected of them. It used to be expected of them. Don't forget... Lawyers were writing the Constitution while doctors were still bleeding people with leeches... |

But then I could write a blog about how half the men out there are either braindead twats or pussy-whipped manwhores. The majortiy of people from any race, gender, sexual orientation etc. are usually pretty odious. Other than that, the blog raised a few good points about gender bias in the media and legal system. It would have been a nicer read if the author didn't have such a blind hatred of women. |

![]() ![]() ![]() *pant* *composes self* I just said that I expect the same things from men and women. I don't know why you're acting offended. Is it really too much to ask people to be considerate of each other!?! To put others before themselves? How narrow! In feudal Japan, warriors' daughters were taught honor and the skills of a warrior as well as the sons, if not to the same extent or standards. (*grumbles* If a woman's place is in the home, then I guess you won't mind sleeping in the garage!) Idiotic misanthropes used to think that women were inferior to men. They believed that women did not possess reason. They also thought that your brain was located in your chest and that black people were one step up from monkeys. The whole "women are meant to be in the home" mentality had its heyday because people used forced differences between men and women to discriminate against women and especially against people of other races at the same time. If women stayed in the home, then white men were automatically superior to blacks and immigrants. This idea had nothing to do with chivalry and everything to do with bigotry. Tivo, I expected better or you. Don't promulgate the jackassery. Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. | Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | Not a bit. The fact is that I'm asking something of women that hasn't necessarily been asked of them in many cultures' history. Incidentally, that same something has been asked of men for most of most cultures' history. And that's why I think that men should know better. I don't think that women should get special treatment: I just think that men should live up to the basic principles that they should all already know. It would be unnessesary, one can get a better response by firmly, but politely saying, as if the person wasn't aware of their mistake - "Excuse me sir, the back of the line is over there". This works in my experience. In most cases, they don't want to look like a jackass infront of everyone, after you've pointed out what they've done.
