As for recreational marijuana use being not healthy? so what? it's not going to kill you. Anything fun is risky. Flying a plane, surfing, rock climbing, etc. They all have health risks. But so what? Your gonna die some day anyways.

I'm not say marijuana shouldn't be illegal to use, but im pretty sure (not completely) that marijuana has replacements that are safer unless they cause an allergic reaction. I'm a dork, but could you simple that down for use lay people? The point I was making was whether or not Oxycontin and Marijuana were related in medical uses. Don't forget this is all in good fun! I would think they could both be used for pain management. Not sure about other potential applications. The people that like marijuanna for pain management like it because the alternatives are too powerful, or cause other complications that make taking those medicines counterproductive. ( Meaning the side effects are worse that the original problem for the individual in most cases. )

If not, I know some docs that would be out of their mind. Don't forget this is all in good fun! "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." I think the patient should be the ultimate authority. After all it is their body, and their existance that is at risk. Many people only consult the doctor for "advice".

A good example is a shot. when I was 5, i would rather get polio then the shot. Now I know better. Also, what if the patient has a headache and demands morphine for it. How do you know if he isn't just after the high? I believe in representative democracy. Doctors rule Don't forget this is all in good fun! "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." Children cannot make their own healt care decisions. The parent has authority over the child. Adults, however, should be the ultimate authority of their own bodies.

Especially if said adult is a religious fanatic that thinks that doctors are spawns of hell and that rubbing five month old lard on wounds is good for you. I trust the doc over any parent (unless they are one and the same. even then I still would go for doc, not parent.) Don't forget this is all in good fun! This is a very good video that discusses medical marijuana from a non-bias standpoint. 17 minutes in length; YouTube - Medical Marijuana - USA

I own my body (while God really does, he lent it to me, but that's neither here nor there). While I do own my body, I'm willing to let the smart person decide what is best for it. IE, if i had a shine new Ferrari, but was a crap driver (which I am), I'd rather my friend drove it and got it home safe rather then myself (who would chip the paint in nineteen places.)
