| It's my first name! Location: Buffalo, New York, USA Posts: 3,523 | As Long as We're Talking About Kids and Violence... First the thing in Cleveland, then the one thwarted in Philly. Is there a wave of violence going on in these American government indoctrination centers (public schools)? Here's a local example: Tonawanda, NY (WBEN) - City of Tonawanda Schools Superintendent Dr. Barbara Peters has sent letters to parents of students to address safety concerns at the middle and high schools. In the letter, Peters says the district had been working with police over the last few weeks to ensure safety after learning several students' behavior had caused others to feel intimidated or threatened. The students had banded together in memory of one of their friends. Peters' letter goes on to say the police department has received approximately 60 complaints of gang-related activity and made 20 arrests. She says school officials have been working closely with police to share relevant information to help end this behavior. Entrances will be limited at the middle and high schools and staff has been advised to be alert at all times. Both schools have also practiced lockdown procedures during the school day. Peters tells parents in the letter these are precautionary measures. SOURCE The City of Tonawanda isn't one of those slum neighborhoods, it's a one of those nice middle class suburbs. 60 complaints, 20 arrests. I would expect that here in my city of Buffalo (where we have several wannabe street gangs - wannabe because they try to imitate the real street gangs of L.A. or NYC). For debate: Is there a wave of violence going on in these American government indoctrination centers (public schools)? I confess that part of my reason for posting this was to poke fun at people in middle class suburbs who keep talking about how unsafe it is to come into the city. | automatic Posts: 455 | Well my opinion on the "American government indoctrination centers " is not very worthy due to me being Canadian. However, let me state this: If shit does indeed roll downhill, are the youth of America being set-up for failure? Lets' take a look into what they see. The leaders of your country are horrible examples, so what affect does this have in your schools? If violence is circumambient to an American student - why wouldn't they become violent? It's not a "wave of violence", it is the product of poor raising of kids. Think about it, any American kid can go on the internet and read about how they go to an "American government indoctrination center" 5 days a week. What would that do to their image of their school? Now you have them rebelling against a system not even the adult American's can agree with. They're screwed the second they walk in the front doors of their school. America has a lot of work to do on their reputation, even it's students can't stand what they are apart of - so how are they dealing with it? This is my signature. |
