well i just got home from being stopped by the police. why you ask thats very simple because they busted an uderage drinking party. and we happend to be walking down the street. So they automatically assumed that we were there and we was drunk. now my problem is that we weren't there for 1 that we got stopped for walking down the road 3 them assuming that we was there. i feel that my rights were violated because we was not doing anything wrong. we was just walkin down tha road and we get stopped. ugh this whole thing that the police can do whatever they want because thaey are the police is not doing it. each day the police are getting more and more room to stop you and to infringe on your remaining rights. i say that we should loosen some of these laws on this. how is drinking bad to health compared to smoking 3 cigerette/day. i'd say smoking them cigs would have to be worse for your health then drinking. we really need to pass a law that lowers the drinking age man these politicians seem to be soo ignorant. it should be my right to drink if i want too. who are they too say what is good for me and what i want to put into me.

My, my what a mess we've made

Lets get this story straight:

-You got drunk
-The cops noticed you staggering about
-You happened to stagger about OUTSIDE a crime scene
-They asked if you were drunk

I don't see nothing wrong.

Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.

How is this more than just an insult ? You have violated the etiquette, sixmillman. The response is not debatable.

Because libertarians have a clear definition of rights and responsibilities, which clearly weren't broken in this instance.

By his writing, I'm assuming he's the type of liberal who claims "infringement of rights" whenever he's inconvenienced. (Remember, this is the same guy who wrote that you have a right to be nude on someone else's property, i.e., the government's).

Look, if you were right outside the party when they busted it and people were clearing out, that is certainly reasonable suspicion, and cause for questioning. After all, how are they to know you weren't there? How are WE to know you weren't there?

FACT: A crime had been committed.
FACT: The police were trying to ascertain the principles.
FACT: You were in close proximity to the scene of the crime.

I would consider the cops negligent in their duty if they had just found a fresh dead body and saw you walking in the near vicinity and did not question you. This is no different.

seems to me that if you wern't drinking and you wern't at the party that the police would have held you up for a very short period of time anyway. If the truth be known you were most likely rubber-necking, all those cops and flashing lights right where you happened to be, shit, I would rubber-neck as well.

Anyway, show respect and courtesy to police and they will generally treat you the same.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
Or get married and wish you were dead.

Exactly. In fact, I've been pulled over three times in my life and not once have I gotten a ticket. In large part I attribute that to the respectful manner I had when dealing with John Q. Law.

That, and every time I happened to be on my way to work, wearing the uniform of a federal correctional officer, may have had something to do with it...

Yeah, obeying their lawful orders and not calling them "pigs" and telling them to fuck off. Respect. What, exactly, do you find offensive about that?

No one said anything about calling anyone a pig or telling them to "fuck off." You can let a cop know who he works for without being direspectful.
