Agreed - an interesting video. I agree with it mostly, but I do believe that things are changing. The reason that the government is owned by a small group of people is the fact that in the post 1950s world, huge amounts of money are required to run a campaign for a public office. However, as the internet becomes more active, I believe that we will see this collapse, to a certain extent.

George Carlin is a hero of mine.

Not because he's smarter than everyone else, not because he's more successful than everyone else. Carlin, like Lenny Bruce before him, has the courage and insight to say the things we don't want to hear, to tie together the threads of thought we're often too distracted by daily life to put together ourselves.

Carlin says what ought to be said, what needs to be said, whether we want to hear it or not. He presents the alternative view to the news broadcasts, the television commercials, the pronouncements from the government. His is the clear vision of the common man.

It's a national shame that voices like his are dismissed and marginalized by those who say he's just a comic, an entertainer. He's every bit as incisive as Mark Twain was in his day. Perhaps some day everyone will look back and realize how much wisdom there was in his rants.

Carlin, to me, is right up there with Henry Rollins and Denis Leary; people who are dismissed as something else even though they have great insights.

I may not like what he has to say, but I know that if he's saying it then it's something he observed directly and he's not sugar-coating the language.

IT'S A BOY!!

Carlin is my hero too. He comes around here once a year, I'll have to get tickets before he retires.

Same here, I've seen him a couple of times and while I think he used to be more effective and relevant, he's still funny to listen to.

Jesus loves me? No thanks, I don't swing that way.
