| Posts: 3,014 | Will hate towards homosexuals help atheism? Is it fair to compare hate towards homosexuals today (well, in the past too) to the hate epidemic towards blacks in our not so distant past? Both are qualities of a human that he or she cannot control. Don't we view non-racists in the peak days of racism far more highly than the ignorant racists? Don't we even view equal rights movers as heros? Is there is single black hating racist that we would call a hero? I believe hating someone because of their race is no different than hating someone because of their sexuality. I also believe haters of homosexuality will soon be viewed as ignorant know-nothings that few people will be able to relate to. Religion has a near monopoly on hate towards homosexuality.. so would it be fair to say this view of ignorant know-nothings that few can relate to be hinged with religion, thus, giving religion the well deserved stance of ignorant hateful know-nothingness? Or perhaps the religious will never wake up from what I feel is comparable to the black racists' epidemic in our past. Is there evidence that religious people are waking up to the fact that homosexuality is not a choice, just like the color of your skin is not a choice (kinda)? Are they drifting away from religion because of this? Should they be drifting away from religion because of this? Thoughts? Powerful.. magical.. e-e-e-eevil.. |

![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,724 | I see what you're getting at, but I don't see this as directly helping atheism.... those who still want to seek a spiritual answer to life will still seek some religion that makes sense to them. Those who are frustrated with their religion and feel that perhaps this in paticular was the last ignorant straw, perhaps more would give up on religion. I was athiest for a few years.... before that I was roman catholic..... now I'm believing my own way of living and existance.... do what makes sense to you and nobody else.... so long as you're happy with your life. I wouldn't call my belief a religion, but I also wouldn't call it atheism either, because I do believe in something.... just not a God. |

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality? | |
