Racist Remarks in Die Hard 4.0?? (Spoiler Warning)

Folks, I haven't seen this movie yet which just opened a few days ago worldwide, but for those who have seen it, is it true about the racist remarks?

What can you expect from a garbage movie like Die Hard 4?
Hollywood pumps out a lot of crap like Die Hard 4 and Rocky, but there
are some really good movies out most do not come from Hollywood.

I just watched two movies with where race words were used.

Black Snake Moan.

and a Disney movie called "Remember the Titans".

And the movie Wedding Wars used the word "fag".

In the Disney movie someone called the black football couch a Monkey, and after the black couch won the game he reached in his pocket and gave the guy a banana and smiled.

Everyone knows about those words and the movie industry is trying to show them as being wrong and as being outdated relative to the new and more popular attitudes of modern times.

After looking at the link you provided I must think they went over the line this time. Perhaps the intent was to show Willis as a "tuff guy" because he used those words and had that attitude, it is still not something to be promoted for viewing because he has a "fan base" that admires him as a role model.

I am removing that movie from my future "watch list".

I've been picking up xtra work this summer at a theater so I get to see all the movies for free. The reaction from the audience both times I have seen it has been the same...laughter. And it is a diverse audience including Asians and all age groups which was maxed out at 400 per showing. If anyone goes into Die Hard not expecting bad language and politically incorrect language then quite frankly your an idiot or you have been living under a rock since the early 80's. If you want offensive has anyone seen Knocked Up? Theres a sensitive movie for ya!

Discussing the link.

Personally, I think it is just sensationalist garbage. People need to settle down, he called the girl Asian, not one of the myriad of racial epithets (I'm not crude enough to start a list) that he theoretically could have used. The fact of the matter is, the girl was overtly of stereotypical Asian characteristics. The way I looked at it in the movie, Bruce Willis could have simply been making a point, he saw the woman, and saw her features... no racism there.

As for the lines "she was hot" and "you shouldn't have ... one," in the movie he was purposely being offensive, to anger the other guy (who's name I forgot, oops) he was belittling both the dead woman and the man, who obviously cared for her. Being offensive was part of the power of the line.

As for the author (who I am assuming is a man to save a letter) of the links conclusion, it seems to me that it is one of the many times that people are looking to be offended. He comes to his own conclusion that 2 simple lines make all Asian women whores, and that they are expendable.

In my opinion, people need to settle down, need to stop looking to be offended, and need to stop trying to be the victim all the time. It is starting to get EXTREMELY annoying.

I think Maggie Q needs to gain some weight. For a start, she could consider getting off that vegetarian diet.

Willis is not a black rapper and so they should not have him use the term 'Asian Bitch' in the movie. If other people wanna think that is funny then I have no objection to them watching old crome dome make an ass out of this "should be" acting abilities. Willis has made some good movies but he also takes roles in really bad movies. I for one am not wasting my money on that flick. The Die Hard plot should have died a long time ago - time for a change.

And to tell people to "calm down and allow rasism" seems to be a lame idea in my book. Do you also have funny drawings of Jews with long noses on the wall to laugh at?

Why is it not ok for bruce willis to say "Asian bitch" yet it seems more than ok for others to say "white bitch" in other movies? Or how about all the movies that portray black men as these gangster thugs who have 12 honeys hanging off their every appendage? XXX - state of the union with ice cube comes to mind. Another mindless garbage action movie but the way it portrays races is horrid.

If we are to pick apart all the racial crap in hollyweird we would be here all day. In the end if this type of thing bothers you then don't see the movie.

Don't you find it difficult to picture Maggie Q as a kung fu babe?

an action packed movie with lots of great graphics and one liners. Nothing too offensive there. I think article is a misquote it wasnt said exactly like that.

I think he said asian not to insult her ethnicity, but to let her boyfriend know that he really had killed hisgirfriend (who was an assaasin trying to destroy the US, and by mentioning the fact that she was asian it proved he was in fact reffering to the guys girfriend and not some other chick that he killed. The word asian is not racist.

1 It wasn't meant as racist comment.

2. Stop choosing to be offended.

3. Get over it.

The first one, I agree. Villain berating villain.

Second... John taunting the villain. They certainly should have chosen better. It's kind of in character... McClain is a very faulty action hero: this has been made plain from the start. But... not excuse. Damn, I missed it. Kind of a weak Diehard otherwise, if you ask me . More of a rental. Thought the boy should have been given a slight wink in regard to his daughter but... fits the character of the hardass he's playing.

Frankly... not out of character. If they had offered a positive Asian character, I would be less bothered by both the Willis line and me missing the comment. Think I just dismissed it, mentally, as a typical McClain taunt.

Good point, but I do wish Hollywood would think a little more and at least offer a token positive role model no matter what the stereotype they throw around. Would I regulate it? Hell, no. Just think it wise.

Since the big and little screen make people look "fat" they intentionally go for Karen Carpenter dead wannabes. Frankly I'd rather see more, no matter male or female. Helps kids worship thin so much it's enough to make them gag. I think super thin isn't all that attractive. If I wanted that I would have married the key to my car.

I DEFINITELY agree with Crimsonking! people need to stop being offended so dang easy! its because of people who are easily offended that we have a billion more lawsuits that lead to nothing, and that also lead to BS legislation for "hate crimes", whatever the hell that is...

Actually, Maggie Q is not exactly ethnic Chinese. She is half Caucasian and her name is Margaret Quigley.

No I don't actually, sorry. There is an extreme and obvious difference between calming down and allowing racism and not getting up in arms when there is a line that you believe shows a little non-PC.

For example, I could get all up in arms about the fact that used the phrase "black rapper" instead of rapper, calling you a racist because you are implying that only black people can rap, or that black people can say htings that white people cannot because of their skin color, but I am rational, and realize that you probably didn't mean it that way. After all, following the author of the sites rationale, you are a racist for using the word black.

I believe you get my point
