| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 1 | adoption despite fathers protest What do you think about this? A father was told his girlfriend had a miscarriage - only to find out she was really giving the baby up for adoption (they were no longer together after the miscarriage) He stops an adoption in Montana only to have her run to Utah at the last minute to give birth because of the adoption laws in place. babyselling.com |

| Grace Posts: 80 | There must have been reasons why she decided to lie to her boyfriend in the first place about the pregnancy and miscarriage. One must first look at what problems were in the relationship to begin with. It is obvious that she did not want to be a mother and decided on adoption instead of abortion. Would the father have stepped in and taken full responsibility to raise this child...more than likely not. But if he did, then the woman would have been responsible for child support, something she might not have been able to afford. If he had stopped the adoption, then the woman would have to raise a child that she did not want and have constant contact with a man than she no longer wanted to be around. Not a good situation for the child to grow up in. The father would then have to pay child support, something I am sure he didnt think of before he decided to stop the adoption. I think the mother did what was in the best interest of everyone involved. |

The father should have first claim on the child, if the mother doesn't want it; if there's a reason why he shouldn't be granted custody, the mother should prove that in court.
