Yes, yes folks:

(sp?)

Yet another lazy shortcut which on-line users of the phenomenon think goes unnoticed.

This is truly ridiculous. They acknowledge that the word they used might be spelled incorrectly, have a vast range of free dictionaries at their dispoal as they are already on-line, yet proceed to spell the word incorrectly.

God damn, how much lazier and careless can people get?

What's next, arguments here at Volconvo containing (a?) marks to denote possible inaccuracy of stated figures and events? Damn it, do some homework and sound intelligent, people.

That is all,
Sod

I think you're going too far. With the time it takes to research and post sources and form and type arguments, sometimes one doesn't have the time to look up a word. I agree we all need to most of the time, but give us a break sometimes, will you?

Sorry for not clarifyng myself.

I really meant repeat offenders that continually do this, although I do find even one-time usage to be a stupid move.

It takes about 10 seconds all together to open MS word, copy and paste the text into it and get the spelling checked. Simple as 1, 2, 3.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=WORDHERE <-- I use this URL when I'm uncertain about a word. I have it in my URL history, hit ALT+D to get to the adressbar, type in "dict", press down once to choose the correct URL, and replace "WORDHERE" with the word I need. Takes...
*tests*
...four seconds.

EDIT: Also, lots of people on the 'net do not have English as their mothertongue....give us darn foreigners a break now and then.

If there's one thing I have for people on the net who speak a second language as well as you, it's respect and leeway (okay, well two things ). But the fact is the majority of (sp?) users are fat Americans or, um...Skinny Englishmen.

And why is it people are getting "loose" and "lose" mixed up? How is it possible?

I don't get that one either, Pooey.

Why can't we have a spell-checker in here?

Slight confession to make here, I tend to edit thread topic titles if there's a typo. (no wording rearrangement though ofc)

Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is strength

that's a good thing :-)

Guests will think we're too stupid to talk to if we can't even spell in our titles! ;-)

Not that shocking. Lose has the same double-O vowel sound as loose, so it'd be rather easy to write loose instead of lose, consciously or subconsciously. I think that's called assonance. (Just kidding, I know it's called assonance.)

Title-correcting is fine by me, although I'm sure I'll never be one of your spelling-doctor patients, Pooey.
