| 20-20 Atheist Location: Las Vegas, NV Posts: 466 | Trilogies of the Summer There are many third-inallments to trilogies coming out in the summer. The one that has come out is Spider-Man 3, which, to me, was a dissappointment, but that is not the debate topic. Others to come out will be Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Shrek the Third, Ocean's Thirteen, and one other that I cannot remember. Pirates looks f*cking awesome, and I plan to see it the day it comes out. How about you, which are you looking forward to? On a side note: This is not limited to trilogies, put any movie of the summer up, if you wish. Torture is the gradual elimination of emotions. |

| God is good Location: Down by the river, stealing your water Posts: 1,518 | Harry Potter 5 is coming out, but I haven't been really enthusiastic about the HP movies. I look forward to the last book though. I guess from the list of summer movies, the only ones that I might see are Shrek 3 and Pirates 3. And yeah, Spiderman 3 was kind of disappointing. |

| Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | I agree on both counts about Harry Potter. I've already pre-ordered. But the movies have been disappointing. I am interested how they are going to explain some things in the later movies since they cut out the sections in the earlier movies that were supposed to go along with them. I was disappointed by how they destroyed the story, especially in 3 and 4. ![]() It's only logical Location: San Diego Posts: 4,968 | . Interesting you should bring that up. This morning's San Diego paper wrote about the 'curse' of trilogies... Trilogies are so often tripped up in the end --"Everybody loves “The Matrix.” Great movie – philosophical, theological, great special effects. What's not to like? Well, how about the fact that its success paved the way for the demon spawn that was the trilogy-closer “The Matrix Revolutions.” Any re-viewing of “Beverly Hills Cop” is hindered by the fresher memory of “Beverly Hills Cop III.” Same goes for “Aliens 3,” “Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles” or “The Bad News Bears Go to Japan.” And let's just not talk about “The Godfather: Part III.” Ever."-- ...or Batman 3, or Rocky 3, or the Terminator 3, etc. etc. etc. The exception seems to be when the 3rd installment is planned from the beginning or already written, as in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, or the Harry Potter books. . I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it |

| Possibly edible? Posts: 783 | You're forgetting Return of the Jedi, as well as the "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Both are considered second best in their respective triologies. Side effects may include gastrointestinal homicide, theft of luck, apocalyptic hallucinations, and demonic possession. Please do not soak in milk as doing so will result in death. |

Note to all: By the way, the other one that I was thinking of was Rush Hour 3, where they are in Paris. No. Just... no. Torture is the gradual elimination of emotions.

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 4,375 | Fantastic Four 2 is coming out... Evan Almighty is the sequel to Bruce Almighty... to be added to the Shrek / Pirates / Harry Potter / Spider-man / Ocean sequels. I won't lock it to trilogies, because while I know that Pirates will probably end with this third installment, maybe Shrek, but Ocean's and Spider-man are open for sequels, and Harry Potter still has 2 more movies after this one in July. |

But on topic, I can't wait for Harry Potter 5, despite how the "story has been destroyed." Also waiting for Pirates 3, Oceans 13, and Shrek 3, and I still have to see Spiderman 3. Economic Left/Right: -9.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.79 Reality is fantasy; Facts are perception.

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 4,375 | I think he means it was destroyed because they have to eliminate a lot of what's in the books in order to create a movie of reasonable length. Though one big thing to remember is that if it's in the movie, it's critical to the main storyline. So think of the most trivial thing in the movie and realize that it's there because Rowling said it had to be and would be relevant in later stories. I'm not chomping at the bit to see Ocean's 13... the 11 "remake" was good enough for me. I am looking forward to the rest of the sequels. I think Shrek 3 will be the first movie we take our daughter to see in theaters. |
