| Molten Ash Posts: 49 | I guess I''m in minority here..i have a different perspective. I am not happy she has had troubles, or even that she might go to jail, I am not gleeful at idea of that and have trouble getting why anyone would. She's still a human being, and I feel badly that she hasnt from childhood, been tuaght and raised in a way that would help her live her life diferent. |

Lawyers around the country can now cite Paris so their clients can get a lame 3-day sentence. I like how the jail cited that they don't have the space for her to be in her old cell. They seriously had one person occupying a 2-3 person space. |

Here's another: Consider a rich and poor innocent person arrested and jailed pending trial with a very high bond. The rich person bonds out then proves innocent at the trial, gets the bond money back, and walks. The poor person can't come up with bond money, so they sit in jail for months until they get to trial, prove innocent, and walk. Or consider the misdemeanors. Same offense, same monetary penalty, but different value taken. For the rich person it is insignificant pocket change and for the poor person it's a higher percentage of their working life. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 49 | The truth is that there are many people who do horrible crimes, even assault, and get off with some slap on the wrist. I agree in a perfect world there would be perfect justice. However I hardly see what she did as the cause of the year that necessitates poeple to get so angry and feel she should serve hard time, if that's the case, then everyone who has gotten off from more serious crimes needs to pay up. On a personal note, this is just my own personal thing and doesnt change at all the above, my dad was a drunk slob growing up. HE drove drunk many, many times, even with young babies, toddlers in the caer and almost got us killed. It was terrifying. For some reason, he was just not caught at it, and continued to put his family thru he**. The fact a cop didnt happen to see it, is the only reasons he wasnt locked up. I also read about a man who killed several people drunk driving, as an illegal with no license. Do you (general you) also want him to pay up, big time, I assume if you want equal justice, this man will be either deported or put in jail many years to come. So, I am not saying what she did was right, but in comparison to many crimes people get off of, it was pretty minor, she didnt hurt anyone, she didnt involve young children in her driving, etc. So, just because she's a celebrity shouldnt mean she should get a harsher sentence either. It's obvious that many poeple want her punished mroe than they would want a regular person punished, bc of fact she is rich and they resent that |

Anyone should be let out under those circumstances, shouldn't they? "...with like-minded people one cannot discuss. Sometimes my family will watch Entertainment Tonite, every time I see that show I wonder why I should care so much about the personal lives of others that I need a show to tell me whats what. What is the purpose? I get nothing practical out of knowing this information. Why do they get so much attention and money? | Market Anarchist Location: United States Posts: 650 | Paris Hilton should never have been arrested, sent to jail, placed on house arrest, or even given probation. Paris Hilton is not violating anybody's rights while driving drunk. Drunk driving should not even be against the law. The government has no right to regulate our blood content, and the fact that a breathalyzer is needed to determine whether we are breaking the law or not is despicable. That is not how the law is supposed to work. The law is not suppose to follow probabilities. When you drive drunk, there is only a probability that you may cause an accident, and within that there is only a probability that it could have been avoided if you weren't drunk. There are many, many drunk drivers who do not kill people when they are driving, much less themselves, yet they are still breaking the law despite the fact there has been no damage to persons or property. To sum it up: Legalize drunk driving. And leave Paris alone. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito, qua tua te Fortuna sinet. |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 4,375 | How ironic. Her lawyer visits her after the first day and comments that Paris was doing fine, sleeping and eating, etc. But after his visit, she suddenly stops eating and tries like hell to not eat. The only two things they can't force you to do in prison are eat and sleep. You are allowed to starve yourself to death. At least you are in some states. |
