How come doing "Gods Work" never involves making two dollar pants? I mean, think about the army of people that go out and dig trenches and pass out oatmeal in these remote villages. Instead, keep all those people here making pants. They'll be keeping 3rd world countries out of slavery, by not selling them out to Walmart.

Yes brien we get your point but not everybody is aware about McDonalds. All they know is they are hungry that's it. They don't know about anything else. Even a documentary known as "Supersize Me" didn't change McDonalds profits or the patrons habits.

Choice is one thing brien but uninformed choice is another. In fact uninformed choice isn't even really a choice when one thinks about it.
That may be true but why does that matter? I'm a smoker. I wasn't born a smoker. I saw other people smoke, cough, wheeze, etc and said looks like fun. That's not my point. My point is I did not need someone to tell me smoking is unhealthy. Furthermore, I like MD's. However, one trip to the drive thru and nobody needs to tell me this aint Jenny Craig. Informed choice? Who is framing the message for the uninitiated? Ingredients, caloric content. That's all the law should require. Can't figure out what is a healthy diet? Go to school, dr, mom whatever. Do not take away my french fries!

You are missing the point. I hope this will drive the message home. What if you bought some chicken fingers which is a choice but you didn't know about this:

    How does this happen?

In 2007 Charles received the 10th annual Global Environmental Citizen Award from Harvard Medical School's Centre for Health and the Global Environment, by former US Vice President Al Gore and actress Meryl Streep.
But this article points out that the Princes company makes food worse than the big mac?

I'm sure I'm guilty of "spin" in this post. But it doesn't seem right to win an award from Harvard Medical, and make pastry. In addition, the Prince recieves the award from Al Gore... who in another thread, is also accused of hipocrisy of using 20x more electricity than everyone else, or he's totally "green" depending on who you talk to. It's so confusing...

    I'll play devils advocate:

Hey Boetie, what other corporations use the same Kraft product? Why aren't you singling them out? McDonalds did not produce the chicken. Did Mcd's distribute the product? Did the knowingly do so? Did they purposely cover up the story to protect themselves from liability?
This 'issue' does not mean Mcd's requires any more scrutiny than any resteraunt, anywhere, anyplace. See 'Taco Bell/E-coli"

It smells like a bunch of high-powered people are giving themselves awards and titles they don't deserve, that's all I'm sayin.

Actually, I shouldn't say "The Prince" when I'm referring to: His Royal Highness The Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and Earl of Chester, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Great Master and First and Principal Knight Grand Cross of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Member of the Order of Merit, Knight of the Order of Australia, Companion of the Queen's Service Order, Honorary Member of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, Chief Grand Commander of the Order of Logohu, Member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty. Winner of the 10th annual Global Environmental Citizen Award from Harvard Medical School's Centre for Health and the Global Environment.

Just to be clear on who I'm talking about.

I'm reading many posts and I am amazed at one point: Everyone thinks they have the right to be protected from their own stupidity or laziness. Mostly then infringing on the rights of others. If trans fat ends up being the worst food additive since saccharine, those people will stand up and demand renumeration. What they fail to realize is trans fats passed all legal requirements when introduced to our diets. If you can prove a cover up prove it. Until then understand that a major corp screwing up does not automatically mean 100% culpabilty, fraud, or intent to harm. They can be greedy, self-indulgent, racist, evil, hateful whatever. I, for one, feel that if I die knowing I provided employment for hundreds, I did ok. If I provide a way of life for one total stranger, I'm not a bad guy. It is very often simply a matter of opinion if I am viewed as morally bankrupt or destined for glory in the kingdom of heaven.

Chill out everbody. If the Prince is a hypocrite then the Prince is a hypocrite. If you want to smoke cigarettes then knock yourself out. What I'm getting at is the issue of choice and all I'm saying is that choice is not always informed choices.

I brought up the possiblity that the product you purchase may be tied with slavery something you may not know about and may not advocate. I brought up the chicken fingers if you ate it then it's rolaid time but if you knew about the recall you perhaps would make another choice.

Again I repeat. I am only saying that this sweeping generality that we have a choice doesn't mean our choices are informed choices.

Not all companies are going to come clean so that we can make real choices. What are the odds of a comerical like this:

BMW's, Porsches, Hummers, fill the parking lot in front of a 10 star restaurant. A beautiful couple enters the restaurant and is immediately greeted by a handsome host whom takes them to a table passing by a wonderful fountain and atmosphere. The delightful couple sits down.

The camera takes us back into the kitchen where we see a piece of meat fall on a sloppy dirty floor. A cook slips on the meat falls down. He turns to look and sees the meat on the floor next to him. The cook's nose is bleeding. He gets up and picks up the meat from the floor. He wipes the crud off the meat on his dirty ass and slaps it on the plate. Blood from his nose drips on the meat. The waitress takes the plate and carries it to the lovely couple.

As the camera focuses on our happy couple as they both take a bite of the meat we hear an announcer say: As you can see fine dining is our specialty.

Pricne Chuckie should have mentioned Burger King because that fast food industry is based out of England. However McDonalds has set up far more chain stores overseas then has Burger King, and it is not uncommon for protesters and terrorists to attack a McDonalds restourant because it is viewed as a symbol of "Americana" The important fact is not the fat (related for the potatos being fried) but the clearing of the South American Rainforest so that people there can use the land to graze cattle which is sold to Burger King and other hamburger companies- cheap meat for those 99 cent burgers and tacos. I support Prince Charles on the ban because I have already banned them myself - for a few years now. But I do make my own burgers at home, and not veggie burgers, unless you added in the greens, tomatos, and onions that top the sandwish. But I am an old dude. I would advocate that young people who are still growing eat healthy food. I did see one company that advertised "Organic Cows". Cows that eat food that is not tampered with and who have no harmones or preservitives added. Most experts on health do not recomend dairy products in general for adults.

There is a little compitition going on between Prince Charles and Al Gore to see which one will get the next Nobel Prize. As you might recall former President (Mr) Clinton was always stoping at a McDonalds for some take out food. I guess he and Al never had a fireside chat about the "environment" or "junk food".

Good thing Prince Charles did not tell them not to eat ham sandwishes because the Arabs would have thought he was pro-Israel and then -"ka-boom".

Hey, we don't need some unemployed Brit to tell us what to eat and what not to eat. Hamburgers are part of our culture. I mean, how would Prince Charles feel if we told him to ban English pub food?
