| I think Rosie's bit was stupid but not a big deal. Malkin's beating up on Rosie by specifically doing what Rosie did, strikes me as far more offensive. And I would like to hear if ROC finds justifying the Japanese internment to be less offensive than a few seconds of Rosie's stupid "ching chang chong." But there is a bit of a difference between having a rally and expressing freedom of speech with those who are willing to be there to hear it, and someone throwing their personal views out for all to see and expect no one to get offended. Most people in the working industry, if they spouted something racist at their workplace, they would be fired. She just did the same thing at her workplace, and it's all good it seems. Actually now that I think about your question...... should they be arrested? I will answer with another question...... how come people in Europe and even here in N.America, people can be arrested and charged for claiming the Holocaust never happened..... where's the logic in that? It would be freedom of speech, but they are still being forced to change their expressions on the matter or face jail time. In thinking this way, if you can get arrested just for saying the Holocaust never occurred, then you should be arrested for KKK demonstrations, and the sort. I don't agree on it, per say.... but if you're gonna do one thing one way, you might as well do everything the same way..... not perfect, but what is? Instead of continuing on this tangent, I'm gonna jump back..... That cow shouldn't be getting away with what she is doing, and I can almost promise you that she'll just do it again until people get royally pissed at her. And I never thought of her as being funny.... ever. Last edited by Praxius; Jan 25, 2007 at 03:17 pm. | |

Aside what we may think about it, she clearly offended the Asiain Community. To dredge up past offenses to the Asian American community in order to deflect away from Rosie's rant, is merely confusing the issue. Brien the Iceberg If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. M.T. | |

I think attacking Rosie while giving Michelle "internment is peachy" Malkin a pass is the real double standard. | Magma | Although Rosie may be ignorant and probably can't speak any Asian language, I didn't see anything wrong with the video. It was racist to an extent, but where do we draw the line? I mean, if I tell a joke to a friend while we're walking down the street and someone(a black person) overhears that joke, and it's a racist joke, it doesn't really mean I'm racist. Rosie was just trying to be funny, which she failed at doing. I don't know anyone personally who'd watch her show, much less some of the other bullshit on TV. Saying it on television is different though as tons of people watch and hear what she says, but I still don't think if I were Asian, I'd take offense to it, and if I did, I wouldn't be calling her a fat ass like I saw someone else post. You just caused your statement to be invalid even if you are Asian. I don't know why anyone bothers listening to that crap anyway... I watch TV for quality movies, and one of my favorites is American History X. Do I think Edward Norton should be punished because he said some racial terms in the movie? No, why? Because it's a movie, just like you wouldn't see Rosie do the ching chong joke in front of Asian people. And if you are bashing her because of what she said, what about Carlos Mencia? Do you think he's a racist, making fun of all different races and types of people? It amazes me at how people buy into this race thing like they care...... "You can only see as far as you think."
