![]() Brb, France Location: Scotland, Central Lowlands Posts: 2,865 | News Sources How do you keep up to date with current affairs? Which medium do you obtain your news from and which particular channels or newspapers do you subscribe to? Personally, I get most of my news from BBC Radio 4 or from The Times, and I use the BBC News website if I want more detail on the story (usually if I’m going to start a thread about it). The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. |

SW is a little tough most of the time. I'm guessing it's because I live next to an airport. Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots. |

![]() Son of X51 Location: San Diego Posts: 3,586 | Short answer: Volconvo Long Answer: I try to NOT be informed about current events. Rarely are they actually important. I have no subscriptions, not even TV guide. From 1998-2004 I didn't have a TV, and I threw my radio away 3yrs ago. I found that if you seclude yourself, usually only important news can reach you. In fact, I belive "current events" are intentional distractions. I question why I come to volconvo, because I rarely debate. But I guess drawing comics of the conversation passes the time; and there is no shortage of stuff to dig up on the internet, if you're not interested in the debates. I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water. |

I also watch the Daily Show and Colbert, who have probably broke as many stories as the actual news channels last year. I watch C-Span 1 & 2 when I see something worthy. I watch PBS Frontline occassionally, and NOW usually. I watch 20/20 when Stossell is on, usually. I watch 60 minutes, if its not bleeding heart crap. I read whatever newspapers I can get locally without purchasing. | Blah Blah Blah Location: Vancouver, BC Canada Posts: 31 | I get most my news on tv from Newsworld (Canadian News Network under CBC) and from local news. Newsworld is ok, they have some good documentaries and debate programs sometimes. I also check out some online publications, local papers (i love free papers) and talk to people (online and in real life). I am cautious about sources though so i try to be weary of making rash judgements and if im really interested in something i research it myself so i can find different opinions. |
