I do encourage them to learn a portable trade. They will have no other alternative, as I havent been able to save a penny for their college. They will have to pay for it themselves. Another downfall of a deadbeat Dad, as Dad's are supposed to support their kids. Alas... I only make 8 an hour. What can I do? Teach them that they have no advantages of those more fortunate as to have real grandparents, which mine dont have, who can kick in money.

$8/hour? sheesh - for that I would consider you an 'apprentice' and teach you skills with which you can command $15-$20/hour with benefits in under 3 years... ever consider moving to Reno (or actually possibly Wyoming or New Hampshire)?

Yes I would move to Wyoming or anywhere but here. Regardless of what the boys though. At least we would not have to live in a huge city, which I hate. I went to Moose, WY last year to a dude ranch, I won a trip. I want to live there in Wyoming, it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Gotta a place for us to rent? I can afford 400 a month. Eh??

come to think of it, depending on the ages of your children, you could employ them in addition to help out with the entire familys expenses - I currently have such an arrangement with another single mother who takes home work on a piecemeal basis and allows her children to help 'earn their keep' - this family garners between $200-$1000 extra a month do to this lucrative arrangement.... we both (employer and employee) value our 'deal' and it helps me compete against larger businesses which have the capital to purchase labor-saving machinery...

consider this an offer... plus, depending upon your children and how much trust you extend to me, I would gladly fulfill some sort of 'male role model' figure in their lives - I have been contemplating signing up for the 'big brother' program to effect just that...

Like Leopard said: get an apprenticeship. Yes, it is hard to get one. The guy I work for now knew about me for a f'n month before he put me to work. And even when you get it, its hard. Being an apprentice is hard, period. I've been one before, I was an apprentice softball coach. I learned from the coach at my school. The problem with being an apprentice is you basically do everything. In softball, I worked the field, packed bags for away games, carried gear, ect. In construction, I do a lot of cleaning up after the more experienced guys. I do what they do for about the first half of whatever it is, and then I start picking up scrap and trash until we start the next task, and the cycle repeats. I sweep the wood working shop and do yard work at the shop facility. That is in addition to the digging, the swinging the hammer, the cutting, ect. I do the dumbshit labor while they do the planning. As an apprentice, you can almost 100% expect to get talked down to a lot. You will get bitched at a lot for not being a f'n mind reader. I get that a lot, anyway. But fuck it. I dont work at greers, and my pay has about qauqdrupled (5.15/hr x 15hrs vs. 7/hr x 35-48hrs). The part where I get to do the actual construction is really cool, and that is what I do about half the time now. And no more smelling of nuetracleaner, I very much prefer smelling of mud, sweat, sawdust ect.

What do you make 8/hr doing?

i would like to leave this country sometime in my life and live elsewhere. american media, american politics and government, and american society are tainted with hostility and counterproductivity and i believe that other countries in the world are less or untainted in these ways.

the drug war, the violence, the censorship, the class war, the attitude of the top trying to control the remainder of the population... i hate it. for now i am tolerating it until i can find a way to repair it. but if i cannot repair american society i swear i will someday abandon it for a population that is less socially and politically retarded.
