| Magma Posts: 1,035 | I don't really follow MMA that much, but speaking of fighting, I like Chuck Liddell and locally, my fav was Mikey Burnett. "You can only see as far as you think." Killer Instinct, tempered by cold calculation. Total package. I am still waiting to see if we will ever get to watch Fedor pound Vanderlei Silva, if the grudge ever ignites a breach of the weight classes. I wonder who will be able to take Fedors belt? Not a lot of promising competition in the ranks right now, in my opinion, for Fedor. | Molten Ash Posts: 143 | Vanderlei Silva is more of a Light Heavyweight (205 or so pounds) isn't he? He was supposed to fight Chuck Liddell at the end of 2006, but for some reason that fight fell through. I thought Fedor was more of a true Heavyweight weighing in at the 220-230 pound range. I have only been able to catch Fedor's fights on YouTube as I have not been following Pride, but I will make it a point to order the next Pride PPV if he is on the fight card. Fedor is featured in the latest issue of Real Fighter magazine. He seems like a real down to earth fella. What makes some say Matt Hughes is a prick? Was it his stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter? |

I like Liddell, but I think Silva would take him without much effort. Quote:
I know Pride goes out of their way occassionally to allow fighters to fight who are not in the same weight class, and I think Silva has enough attitude to make it happen if he wanted it to. ( I don't think he does, but I could be wrong. ) Does anyone remember Keith Hackney knocking out the Sumo dude? How about Royce Gracie and Kimo? Two great fights where the smaller guy beat much bigger opponents, and I think that is a major thing missing from the "weight class" payoff. I wish they would every couple years or so, allow weight class champs to challenge other weight class champs for multiple belts. Quote:
I lost a lot of intrest in the UFC as time progressed and Pride became more popular, as the UFC got more commercial. Currently, I think Pride is a much higher caliber of competititon for any given weight class, but I still watch them both with equal vigor when the fights are good. I would say if I were spending money to watch either though, and I had to pick which one to buy, if I could only buy one...... Pride for sure. Guaranteed not to disappoint at least 90% of the time. Never a disappointment with Fedor or his brother on the ticket! Quote:

More than anything, my type of personality clashes with his type, so a lot of my dislike for him is shallowly subjective stereo-typical perception, something that might change if I knew him. As a person, I think Matt Hughes seems like a respectable dude. I just get tired of trying to see past the chip on his shoulder.... or what I perceive as a chip on his shoulder. Fedor seems much more humble, which plays a lot to why I like him so much. He actually weighed more than Cro Cop in their recent fight - Cro Cop demolished him, though. Vanderlei did not look slow because of the extra 20 pounds, either. Cro Cop was just that much better than him. I think Cro Cop has the potential to beat Fedor in a rematch. I do not think it would happen, I think Fedor would win. However, I think Cro Cop would stand a chance. Did you know Cro Cop is coming to UFC? Man, he is gonna just pound the crap out of Tim Sylvia. Do all things with love.

![]() Sylvias tough, but I don't think he has an adequate defense for Cro Cops kicks, lower or upper body. Petition of Redress of Grievances: http://www.givemeliberty.org/default.htm Canadian Lawsuit Against Their National Banks: http://www.freewebs.com/classaction/ Osborn F. Enready
