You've never looked at a man and thought that he was handsome? I'm not talking about attraction, just the appreciation of a physical quality. Like admiring a statue even though you may not be an artist yourself.

Just like straight attractions, it may start with a purely physical reaction, but getting to know the person, appreciating their personality, that's what allows a relationship to begin.

Too often very beautiful men and women are not interesting beyond their looks. I'm more attracted to personality.

Indeed. I have however seen some men, and thought that they looked like the model of handsome as described by my female flate mates when talking about 'Dishy X, who lives in flat Y' , however when i have attempted to take these description and then asked if person 'Z' is attractive, based on their basic model, i am told 'no, that guy is ugly as sin' or something similar.

Actually, a petition just got passed to put an amendent to ban gay marriage to a vote in 2008, but that's a topic for another thread.

I believed from the beginning that the gay rights movement is better served by pushing for domestic partnership, proving to everyone their relationships are worthy of equal respect, then pushing for marriage recognition in a decade or two.

Not sure, it's kinda early, but while the state is pretty liberal, but it's also vastly catholic, which gives the banning side some organisation and a base to start off of.
