Nothing wrong with abstinence, but it should be a personal choice.

Abstinence should not be tought in schools as the only way.

Condoms need to be tought at a minimum.

I don't get the Emma Watson, but in the progression from virgin to someone with multiple partners that doesnt always use protection, I'd list Andrew Sullivan as the final catagory, or whore....same difference.

It should be taught as the only safe way though. It is the only way to absolutely avoid pregnancy and disease. Certainly there are things you can do to make sex safer, but nothing outside of abstinence makes it safe.

The trouble with teaching issues of safe sex is that the very nature of sex is bewildering to the inteliigence - in otherwords when it comes to the act there is a tendency for everything that you've been taught to go out the door, particularly since its not uncommon for most unsafe sex to happen under the influence of intoxication - I spent a brief month as part of a team to educate "high risk catergory" persons about safe sex - the government sponsored program innvolved mostly showing sexually explicit videos of STD's to shock the pants on people -

Anyway after the experience I have to back that abstinence is the best course - more than one person has stated famous last words down the path of "safe" sex - even if it only leaves you as a parent before your time, better to isolate sex for progeny - otherwise you run the risk of your greatest pleasure turning into your greatest misery

Abstinence pledges FAIL 85% of the time before the student becomes 18yo. Surely condoms have much better sucess rates.
Alcohol and crystal and X are all contributing factors to risking your life sexually, but those substances encourage dangerous practices in and out of beds.

I have no problem with teaching that abstinence is the only 100% method.

But I want condoms right next to it with the 95% (or whatever), assuming you use them right.

It's nothing but a flat out christian agenda to get abstinience only taught in public schools.

It goes beyond encouraging children to abstain, some of these programs have out right lies to scare children about sex. If they want to include abstinence preaching, fine, then keep their bullsh*t anti science, anti-medical information out of those classes.

Hahahah yeh well, it's legal in the UK, and over here in Aus... but I think the issue is if a minor (some under 18/21 depending on country) is seduced/seduces someone over 18/21 - then it's statutory rape... even if the minor wanted it.

However, if someone like myself, happening to be 16, was to do it... then it's no problem. So, sorry to all you adults, huh?
