Not a team player

Right its about 5 am here and I can't sleep. I have come to the realisation tonight that I am shock horror, not a team player.
In fact I detest working in a team situation where I am not in charge. I can't stand it anymore!!!!! I keep getting this urge to kill everyone who is above me and put their heads on pikes :) well I had a nice dream about it anyway.
The funny thing is, I work for a large company where I am required to BE a team player but really all I am doing is creating stress for myself to try and become something I am not. I guess I am thinking, if you aren't a team player in society today....what the hell can you do with yourself?

I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs and insanity for everyone, but its always worked for me.

There are plenty of opportunities for those who prefer to fly solo both in employment and in society as well. However, that position does have its hazards.

If you're not part of a/the team, you stand out, you're more of a target. You don't have anyone near to curb your enthusiasm/anger/frustration, thus making it easier to succeed if your skills and personality really shine when you're on your own, and fail spectacularly if they don't.

It takes a bit of courage, confidence, personality and pluck to be out there away from the crowd, but it's a rewarding way to live just the same.

The human race will become extinct due to committees.

Start your own small business.
Then try getting along with your clients and employees.

When someone in a group says you need to be a "team player" they usually want to take advantage of you in some way.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

"When someone in a group says you need to be a "team player" they usually want to take advantage of you in some way", especially if you're sitting in a circle jerk. Don't say you haven't been warned.

I find it really strange actually but I suppose it makes sense in a really strange kind of way. The people who get promoted in an organisation are the ones who follow the most. So sheep promote other sheep that will follow them so they don't feel threatened. Then they dress it up in nice words saying you can't learn to lead without being a follower.....that is an oxymoron to me.

I am pretty sure Genghis Khan wasnt a follower at any point in his career.

Basically it means if you are a wolf by nature in todays organisations then you are a bit screwed as the only wolf allowed in the organisation is the one at the top of the pyramid.

If you don't mind working in sales, look for a Cobra Group franchise near you. They are the largest training provider in the UK besides the NHS, so it shouldn't be hard to find them. You are self employed, your work is commission based, and you can be running your own franchise within 12 months if you want to. You are only a team in that you will divide up areas between you to work, but then that area is yours to work and the money brought in from there is yours (well, it goes to the client you are working for, but you get a hefty commission for each customer).

The guy who operated the franchise I worked at got to have his franchise in 10 months and 22 days. For every sale made by someone working from his office, he earns equal to them. So, if you on the starting run earn £200 that day, he earned £200 that day. And when you have 20 people working from your office earning that every day... To give you an idea of the potential, the guy whose office covers the Manchester territory has more than 200 people working for him.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
Winston Churchill
