It's a given she is lesbian, (any person choosing to have a child, runs the risk of producing gay/lesbian offspring). If Alan Keye's, Phyllis Schafely's, Newt Gingrich's, and Jimmy Carter's families can produce gay kids it can happen ANYWHERE!

If she is in a red state, move to a blue state, especially to a city, where gays and lesbians tend to live. Teach her that the world can be cruel and unfair and people are often stupid and bigoted, and teenagers are often the worst. Surround her with friends who accept and love her.

Remember that knowledge only goes so far. While she is young and vulnerable, she should be protected from the ugliness of bigots.

Supposing I had children, they would all be taught the same, regardless of gender, sexuality, etc.

Some gay people go through a hetrosexual period in thier lives, and some hetrosexuals even go through a gay period i would teach my daughter that i love her because she is my daughter her politics, sexual preferences and view on life may not coincide with mine,and in return i would humbly ask her to love me in return, just for who I am, her dad

That was not your original question. The world will treat a straight daughter much differently than a lesbian daughter, especially if her identity was butch. A straight daughter will not come home crying because she was bullied at school day after day. Suicide rates for gay children is significantly higher than for straight children. Christian ministers will not be accusing your straight daughter of being a sinner because of her natural urges. A straight daughter will live in world with much more sunshine and happiness than a lesbian daughter. Teach them the same?

There are concerns I'd have for a lesbian daughter, that I wouldn't have (as much) with a straight child. Dealing with her being more likely to drop out of schools, smoking, drinking, narcotic addictions, suicide. In Junior High School I'd guide her to join a gay/straight alliance group, because even having a gay Dad, her's would be a new generation, with different needs and desires I wouldn't be qualified to share with her. I'd soft petal the idea that her wedding day is her BIGGEST day, for her that might never happen. Teaching her to be frugal, and self sufficient would be better life lessons for her, she and a woman partner will likely be living on two incomes 2/3rds of what male workers earn.

I'd also teach this mythical daughter about lesbians in politics, literature, art,History, she'd know womyn just like her contributed, and were courageous.
Additional discussions about specific higher rates of breast cancer for lesbians(actually for any woman who doesn't give birth) would be discussed.
I'd welcome who she dated, into my home graciously, and I'd teach her early, to take care of herself in a fight.

my daughter is my daughter period.

she is 6(yesterday!).

she has no idea of what a lesbian even is yet let alone if she is one or not.

I try to teach my kids it doesnt matter what they have or who likes them that makes them who they are, its their insides and heart and what they think inside when they are alone.

the world can be creul and harsh to anyone and she knows that I am her safe soft spot and I will love and protect her no matter what.

IMHO those are the most important things any child needs to learn

and I also have a son he is being brought up the same way as my daughter.

This is a ridiculous question. I would raise my daughter, regardless of sexual persuasion, to be a strong, independant and courageous woman. You can't simply list out a batch of topics to go through, you have to quickly adapt and change to the needs of the day. The only "subjects" I would teach my children irrespective of situation is how to fight, how to survive and to respect the family and culture that they are part of.

I would teach her how to manage her money and become financially successful. I would also teach her how to accept people for the way they are and celebrate differences, instead of hating them. If she turned out to be a lesbian, then so be it. So long as she was happy, I would be happy.
