I would have to say that you have to understand contextual implications. if the Bible literally designates part of itself as a parable or comparison, then it is. examples of this would be Jesus comparing Himself to the temple, the prophet Jeremiah using metaphor when he wore a yoke about his own neck, symbolizing that the Jews should not resist the Babylonians incursions, and the metaphor-rich book of Revelations. it takes an understanding of the Scriptures to be able to differentiate, and that only comes by the Holy Spirit. this is why I would agree with Deedee here. add in the fact that the Bible is unexhaustible and you see that the Bible can be taken both literally and implicitly. "for all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness." in order to get all of this out of the Bible, one must take it both literally and implicitly.Quote by: rez
