For one, I'm glad to hear that. I wish these kinds of people could draw similar distinctions.

What are we gay atheist veterans to make of a group like this?
    From the Daily Southtown:

Wow. They offend me on so many different levels.
Fred Phelps strikes again! From his two websites (Godhatesfags and GodhatesAmerica), he pours forth his hate, then sends his followers (a large part of them his own family) to picket funerals of AIDS victims, services of churches open to gays, and so on. After the Columbia disaster, he claimed that all seven astronauts had gone straight to hell, because NASA is satanic -- I guess they hire gay scientists, or something. He made a splash when he picketed the funeral of Matthew Shepherd in Wyoming, after Shepherd had been beaten to death and nailed to a fence (crucified, in effect, but Freddy would never see any irony). What to make of him? Well, he could just be an unbalanced loony. Or he could just be an outlier in the continuum of the far right. Or maybe he just makes the mistake of saying and doing outwardly what many other rightwingnuts would like to say and do.

One of the best responses I heard of was in his home city of Topeka: a young man got tired of seeing Fred's hatepickets on street corners and started shadowing him, holding his own sign that said something like: "Not today, Fred." Reputedly, for a time, people increasing joined the shadow protests.

One other thing, if you write to Fred (or even if you don't), just remember that his zip-code starts 666. (As do, of course, all other zip-codes in Topeka, KS.)

I'm beyond speechless, beyond anger. I just thank the stars I don't live near there. Otherwise I'd now be in jail for murder, swear t'gawd.

Calm down! We're not in Kansas anymore, Sonant.

    How can she be smiling?
If she doesn't smile, it doesn't count, and she goes to hell. Besides, tonight Daddy with smite those who didn't smile.

Having her hold those signs is abuse enough, but I doubt that that is the only abuse to which she is subjected.

Brainwashing. Those poor kids. Maybe the terrorists will kill them for being "infidels" for believing in god.

    Thank God for IEDs

It might have been. I thought that GodHatesAmerica stuff was pretty exclusive to Phelps.

    He said it. http://www.beliefnet.com/story/87/story_8770_1.html
JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."
Then he said it was taken out of context: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/87/story_8781_1.html
Despite the impression some may have from news reports over the past several days, I hold no one other than the terrorists, and the people and nations who have enabled and harbored them, responsible for the September 11 attacks on this nation.

I sincerely regret that comments I made during a theological discussion on a Christian television program were taken out of their context and reported, and that my thoughts--reduced to sound bites--have detracted from the spirit of this time of mourning.
Falwell certainly doesn't descend to the level of Fred Phelps, though I don't like him or Robertson much either. But don't tar the religious right with the Phelps-type hatred. Oppose them for what they really do stand for...

Pope John Paul II, the Great Pedophile Pope, is in hell. No burning candles, no indulgences, and no prayers to Mary will change that. The new Pope Benedict, Pope of the Great Whore, will burn in hell with him shortly.
    (from his site)

Hello dumbass! All modern Christian denoms are an offshoot of the Catholic church.

Oh so this guy is just a more radical version of Falwell.

Can't stand either of them though.

    .

According to the site its the Westboro Baptist Church at 3701 SW 12th St, Topeka KS I dont advocate the harm of any property or anything but let me just say that if someone decided to burn the place I wouldn't cry.

Sad sad people. Sorry for the multiple posts but these people piss me off in so many ways.
