I always find it equal parts sad, funny and rather surreal when the bible thumpers find proof of God in disaster. Having survived 9/11, I can say that it is a far more eloquent argument for the evil of religion than for the existance of God.

Of course, the zealots of whatever religion will find God in almost anything, be it murder, mayhem or worse. Scary.

 huh, what does that prove?

It proves that if you are committed enough to your beliefs, it can compell you to find "miracles" in a tragedy like 9/11 (ignoring the larger theological issue of why a caring God would allow this to happen).

And oh, by the way, a similar commitment to their beliefs was what compelled the 19 terrorists to fly planes into buildings in the first place.

I will not claim, in my finite mind, that i understand why God allows things to happen, but "He sendeth rain on the just and the unjust," and "all works out for good in the end" 9/11 brought about the liberation of iraq and afghanistan, women in both countries are now participating in the olympics, and they are now brave enough to say that their husbands or other men in their house are abusing them.

You really have no idea about Afghanistan do you? I hope you realise that the Taliban are creeping back to take control of the country, their oppression is far from over.

Lets see, we are losing the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is still an open question. I agree with Pooey. Your comments on women's rights suggests that you haven't the first clue what is going on in either country.

then tell me how we are losing the war in iraq, why both iraq and afghanistan are moving to democracy, however awkwardly, and why iraqi and afghan women are showing up in the olympics, also even though the reports of females being abused has gone up, there were no previous complaints before we put our hand in the matter, this is going to be just like when they pushed for womens rights when concerned with rape by the woman's husband, the reports went up before they went down

There is a reason 10,000 or so employees were not killed. I can't exactly remember it, but it was either too early for most to come in or something, I'll keep looking for it.

Still, you are not being fair to the atheists. You are saying that since so many people were legitimately not in the building at the time the planes hit, God is to blame for this "miracle." And yet, if the planes were to hit, would the blame be on God still? How can you decide which is which, at any given time you think one of these "miracles" occurs? Let's be fair and say it's impossible to tell, and that that what you consider to be a miracle justifies nothing.

if you would care to read the emboldened verses, you would understand, but if you want me to explain, then you had better be ready for a long sermon. basically i am just saying that he will punish the wicked in their time, for he is a holy God, but he has given them plenty of fair warning at this time and they still persecuted jeremiah and the rest of israel.
I'm all ears. Explain to me why the Bible constantly refers to God loving all, then just as many times, it says he will destroy the wicked.

I guess you don't read the papers. The insurgency is stronger now than it was two years ago. Within a week or so 2,000 Americans will have died and roughly 20,000 seriously wounded. There is no end in sight to the conflict. In a guerilla war that is called losing. The political process is a shambles and the whole country is tettering on the edge of civil war. The rights of women is Iraq are in serious peril from the establishement of an Islamic Republic. All of which is off topic, so I will go on no further.

Rick, weren't you against my Middle East views on how bad it is for women over there? Not to mention the political shambles also?

Given how biased and generally uniformed your views are, as stated in your posts, I really don't care to discuss this with you. If you had read, or perhaps understood my posts, you would have seen my views on the problems facing women in the Middle East.

    And this is absurdly off-topic.
