Gosh thanks, good point. But I just lowered it for the photo (very briefly -- can't be too careful) for fear of being unrecognizable.
Now it's back in place -- mmmfffff.

There is no place colder than my hometown. It stays between -30°C and -40°C for two weeks every year in late January, and temperature can go down to -60°C with he wind chill.

Well it's the Headquarters of Winter, ain't it?
We had a member from Chibougamau, name of nerdvincent. He hasn't posted here for a while. So (let's see...) that would mean that 0.00027% of Chibougamau's population are Volconvo members. I mean, what are the chances?

Well nerd, an old friend of mine, was tired of the same old debates on volconvo. He went away and eventually forgot his password. So he took almost a year off to grow up, read a lot about a lot and get less pedantic and more consistent in his posts. He also experienced what it actually feels like to be part of the proletariat, which confirmed his stances as a libertarian socialist, and he's now in college, writing to you between two math homeworks.

We usually get one or two 3 week -40C cold snaps per winter, and it's been much colder. the -40/50 snap lasted a full month 2 or 3 years ago... I remember because I'd just returned from hawii.
found this:
from here: yourYukon: Yukon weather goes to extremesThe Yukon holds the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in North America. On February 3, 1947, a temperature of -63 degrees Celsius was recorded at Snag, Yukon, a defunct airstrip located east of Beaver Creek. The Yukon also holds the Canadian record for the highest atmospheric pressure. On February 2, 1989, the air pressure was measured at 107.96 kPa (kilopascals) in Dawson City.
