I'm not privy to the knowledge of his armaments
And firing before being "privy" to that fact would (in my opinion, rightfully, and for reasons spelled out by precisely this hypothetical situation--a trigger-happy fool shooting down someone who's completely harmless and nonviolent.

So....you're the kind of person that if you were there with young children and this idiot barged in scaring people, scaring your children, you wouldn't feel he was wrong in the eyes of the law, nor would he be deserving of any punitive measures?
If I had been there with my children, I would have looked at the two signs, read the philosophical one, then pointed to the man and said "look, kids, there's someone who understands what being an American is all about. If you want social justice you have to fight for it."

It's interesting that you seem much more afraid of words than guns.

But truth, Hajjaj was convinced, held many layers.

Harmless people don't have signs saying "This is a robbery". You're being obtuse and whisking right by the fact that this man did, indeed, have a sign claiming there was a robbery in progress.

If I had been there with my children, I would have looked at the two signs, read the philosophical one, then pointed to the man and said "look, kids, there's someone who understands what being an American is all about. If you want social justice you have to fight for it."
I was serious, buddy. Did I not just tell you I would draw down lickity-split on any idiot whom walked into a building I'm in with a robbery sign? Did I not sufficiently convey the message that I would fucking dispatch any idiot whom thought it funny to pull what would fairly be considered a threatening stunt?

And you, being a responsible parent, would encourage your impressionable children to follow suit with insanely moronic stunts that could, at the very least, cost them their freedom if not their lives.

It's interesting that you seem much more afraid of words than guns.
It's not about words, it's about intent. In this day and age we have people that walk into buildings and open fire. We have people that show up to their former workplace, disgruntled, looking for vengeance. We even have freaks that put on costumes and open fire in movie theaters claiming to be fictional comic book villains. Yet you would disparage me for witnessing a person walking into a bank with a robbery sign in what is essentially a joke and taking matters into my own hands?

Fuck that shit. I'm asking questions after he's on the ground. Whether by compliance of my orders or by gunshots, either way, that motherfucker is gettin on his ear.

Send your kids over to my house with a cute sign and I'll send them right back to ya in a fuckin bag. (<<not a threat...just sayin)

Yes, but a sign doesn't give you the right to kill someone. End of story.

It's not about words, it's about intent.
The man's intent was not to do any violence.

Again, I'm thinking you belong in jail more than the guy in the bank does.

It gives me the right to consider that a person may be threatening me, which allows me to deter the threat. Under the right circumstance, I would be justified in detaining him forcefully. Shooting him....it would depend entirely on the context of the threat.

The man's intent was not to do any violence.
....and I know this how? His intent was to use fear to drive across a point about his political views. Terrorism in it's purest form.

Again, I'm thinking you belong in jail more than the guy in the bank does.
Well this thread isn't about me so perhaps we should move on. Just throwing it out there, some people aren't patient with threats.

Killing him in self defense was the implication. If you go into a bank with a big 'ol sign saying "this is a robbery"....is it not logical that some there may think it is in fact a robbery?

If I "belong in jail".....it's funny that I've never been in jail.
Because in real life you are probably far less ballsy than you present yourself here.

I'm not privy to the knowledge of his armaments. All I know is that he's robbing this bank, his sign says as much. It's reasonable to assume that anyone in the process of robbing a bank likely is armed in some manner and, as typical conveyance of robbery, intends to use some form of violence to gain compliance.
Unarmed lone offenders accounted for 28% of robberies, caused the least number of injuries to victims (one percent of all victims' injuries), were the type of robber who most often used a note to threaten bank staff (46% of all their robberies). Fail.

So....you're the kind of person that if you were there with young children and this idiot barged in scaring people, scaring your children, you wouldn't feel he was wrong in the eyes of the law, nor would he be deserving of any punitive measures?

I'm not talking about a misdemeanor fine, I mean serious punitive measures meant to both punish him and dissuade others from following suite with similar stunts. I assure you, this fag didn't care at all about how he scared your kids, and he most certainly wouldn't care at all about a punishment akin to a traffic citation.
One of his signs said "you are being robbed" NOT as you claim "this is a robbery". You are obviously being disingenuous because you know (and we know) that if a teabagger rally was outside a credit union protesting unions and a teabagger walked into the CU with the same sign you would be on his side.

I'm not doing that, getting into a tough-guy contest with you. I am what I am and I am not here to play the role of Johnny Badass. What I am IRL will have to remain a mystery to you. I've never been to jail because I am not stupid....nor do I hurt people that don't have it coming, but I do hurt people that fuck with me.

Hence why some people should refrain from fucking with random strangers, as the person in the OP did at this bank. You don't fuck with random people going about their own business. I assure you, there are many people like me, who would've throttled that faggot without hesitation just for giggles.

    Nerd speak?

I'm standing in a bank and some douche saunters in with a robbery sign, you think I'm gonna ponder statistics while deciding my move? Get the fuck out of here with that Data from Star Trek bullshit. Get with it dude.

"Well....statistics show that on average...." FUCK THAT, I'm hooking that queer into the dirt. Threaten to rob me as a joke and you fucked up pal.

Yes, I would confront anyone that walked into a bank with that sign whether I realized it was a prank or not, regardless of political motive.

You really think there's much difference between "You are being robbed" and "This is a robbery"? Really? Stop being so purposely obtuse.

It's not hard to tell why iolo thinks we Americans are completely insane and eager to kill each other.

But truth, Hajjaj was convinced, held many layers.

LOL... so anyway, now that I've destroyed your argument... go ahead and shoot an unarmed protester because he carried his protest into a bank and see who goes to prison. One hint, not the guy with the cardboard.

    You destroyed my argument? Hmmm....dubious.

I'm pretty sure what impression a dead loser laying on a bank floor holding a sign that says "You are being robbed" will make. The photographic evidence would allow me to relax.

I'm not looking to kill people. I think that would suck to kill some loser that was misguidedly trying to protest. My point wasn't to say that I would kill him knowing he was just demonstrating. I'm saying, If I was there, it's very possible I don't see his other signs or realize he's just shitting around. If that was the case, he's in a great deal of trouble.

I 100% assure you I would draw my sidearm.

You have to be real about this, Senor. A guy getting shot for walking into a bank with a robbery sign isn't going to garner much sympathy. To argue that is absolute bananas.
